Topic: Strangest Nintendo Wii repair problem ever!

So heres the abridged version. I sent my wii console and power plug in for repair about 3 weeks ago, due to the console not wanting to power on. I waited patiently for a status and last week I received an Email stating there was an issue surrounding my repair and I would need to contact them. Eager to get my Wii back, I immediately called them and gave them my reference number. I was greeted by a very nice guy named Scott who read his notes to me. In brief, he told me a penny was found in my console which caused the damage to my Wii. He then put me on hold briefly and sai he had been mistaken. In actuality, my shipping box was opened and only a penny resided within, where my console should have been. I was immediately taken aback with laughter. I told Scott "you have got to be kidding me, right?" Unfortunately he wasn't and told me to call back next week for a resolution. A week went by and today I called back. I asked about my repair status, and gave them the info I was given last week. Well the man on the other end confirmed the penny in the box story, and now Nintendo had UPS investigating where my Wii console was. Here's wher it turns uglier. I have to call back in one week to check with Nintendo on the status of UPS' investigation on my vanishing Wii console. If UPS is found to be at fault, I would have to file a claim with them and Nintendo would not be held liable for the return of my disappearing Wii. I am just astonished at how Nintendo could be like this. I have owned and registered one of every home and portable console made by them, yet if UPS loses it (or more likely a greedy driver stole it) somehow Nintendo doesnt feel responsible to keep a lifetime customer happy. I now have all but lost faith in getting back my Wii, and lost my faith in Nintendo themselves. Anyone else out there ever had such an incident occur? Like receiving a penny instead of your console at their repair center?

Oh I'm pissed with UPS but at Nintendo as well for not covering their shipping partnership. The console was just bought brand new in December of 2013.

Nintendo is not responsible for UPSes mistakes, nor should they be obligated to reimburse where another company screwed up. UPS should pay to replace the lost item, and it's rather irrational to expect otherwise.

Every single company I know of no matter what the purpose is never guarentees for the shipping.. when there is a problem with the shipment, that's the guy at UPS's fault who delivered it.. NOT THEIR'S.. they cannot control if something goes wrong in shipment as that is an entirely different company not assocated with nintendo whatsoever and they have no control what goes on in it... and vice versa in your case.

Seriously name one company, nongaming if you have to, that guarentees for the shipping as well... next to none do so.

If I sent a package to someone and it somehow turned into a penny in the process, why am I responsible?

Really? It seems to me like it's a rant about how this is Nintendo's fault somehow when it truly isn't and you just threw the last question in there to justify the thread's existence.

And BTW Nintendo got the penny compensation. Not me. Furthermore UPS has told me now that this is Nintendo's fault because UPS weighs packages everytime they change trucks. So now it is on Nintendo. This makes me irate at both Nintendo and UPS for their incompetence.

Read my last statement and youll see how the fault is now on both parties.

And now we're freaking out about a single penny???

Nintendo is not at fault nor incompetent in this situation. They told UPS that it was clearly their fault and is working with them to resolve it and UPS fired back and said it was their fault and that somehow makes Nintendo incompetent?

EDIT: Nintendo is correct. They are not liable for what happened to your Wii unless you can prove it was their fault, which it doesn't seem like it is.

They weigh packages... but they don't stop the last guy on delivery from taking it..

It's also entirely possible the reciever at nintendo took it (New summer employees?).

All I can say is..

It happens.. nothing you can do sorry to say

No matter what UPS says it is there fault not Nintendo's. You will have to file a report with UPS. My suggestion is maybe contact the BBB. Call UPS and ask to speak with the District or even Regional Manager. Even if you were to say make a court case out of this you would have to go after UPS not Nintendo unless you want to be laughed out of the courtroom. UPS is going to try and blame Nintendo so that way they mix you up and you dont go after them dont let that fool you just stick to your guns and go after UPS.

Thumb print on the penny will prove who did the crime, unless Nintendo ruined the evidence by touching it, lol.

Seriously, another Wii is dirt cheap, so it's really only your paid downloads that could be worth a lot. Nintendo should at least be able to help you recover your paid downloads in this kind of a situation I'd hope.

If the SD card was in it, then it is the user's fault, not Nintendo's. The repair instructions clearly state to leave SD cards out.

Oh I see. Problem with that too is that Nintendo ALSO states that data can be lost during a repair. Similar situation.

Hang on, unless the poster used UPS himself, it's technically Nintendo that's arranging the whole thing since I'm pretty sure (in the UK anyway) that they provide you with a shipping label. So technically Nintendo owns the relationship with the shipping agency - not the end-user and therefore I'd expect Nintendo to be making the claim.
