I just read the article about Dylan Cuthbert, and I say he's right about the part of the flying and shooting. (Everything else, saying the Wii is a toy and half-dissing Miyamoto....GAH!!! Outrages...) But that's what I want mostly in a Star Fox game. The Landmaster and Pilot are fun, but there should be more flying levels than anything else. Like in Star Fox 64.
And if you think about it, it would work phenominally. Hold the Wii Remote on it's side. Press 2 to shoot, Press 1 for bombs. Tilt the Wii Remote to the sides and forwards and backwards to lift and lower and turn. Tilt twice fast left or right to barrel roll, and I'm sure there are many ways to do the other special things, like U-Turns and Somersaults.
I like this series and I want a good new addition to the franchise. The Wii is the perfect place to do so.
I highly doubt they'd use motion controls for Star Fox. It'll probably be IR controlled, ala Star Fox Command. Which would be fine, that system works great, and if you think about it it'd be an improved Star Fox 64.
I'm not sure. Tilting it forward/backward would likely be loose, especially when doing quick moves. The only way it could work is using MotionPlus (unlikely) or IR.
Well yeah, I figured MotionPlus would be out already. I guess you're right about doing things quick, but motion controls or no, I would really like a new Star Fox. The concept of having a team and flying through waves of enemies is fun.
Same here man. I prefer IR, even with tight motion controls. If you recall in Star Fox 64, moving the analog stick moved an on-screen cursor. Translating that to IR would be sweet.
I do recall. I didn't use the cursor much, but when I did it was very nice how it moved where you wanted it to and the Arwing followed as in pursuit of what your cursor was pointing and shooting at. All the more reason to give long-awaiting fans another sequel in Star Fox 64's image.
Nah. I think that Star Fox Assult set some really great groundwork for future games--I especially loved the missions that had you switching between land and plane. So, I think the ideal control scheme would be something similar to Sin and Punishment 2, where you move the plane with the nunchuck and aim with the pointer. That way, you could seamlessly switch between your Arwing and on-foot gameplay. They'd have to make the flight levels much more difficult and frantic otherwise you could just sit there and shoot the crap out of your enemies without ever having to move your plane.
That's just my opinion, though. I think that a tilt-based control scheme would work in a Starfox game where you're only flying. I think the control scheme for Wii Sports Resort's flying levels is pretty cool, though.
There's a lot of possibility out there. I'm not the biggest starfox fan out there, but I think there's a lot of potential for the series on Wii.

I once in a while bring out Starfox 64. I enjoyed Adventures. Never got a chance to play Assault. I would not mind an update to the series. I think if they do make one they should cater to us all. if they can get motion controls work then implement it, but also leave room for more traditional controls.
It would be cool to make a Star Fox game about James McCloud. Would you say? I mean why would the apparoid queen impersonate his voice. Has she fought him before? Those are the questions.
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
