@KingBrolyfor sure, you know what I mean tho. Samus fights and defeats Ridley like a million times.
and the game makes it abundantly clear as to why Adam is blowing up sector 0, I think what Gamesake was trying to say is, why does he need to be inside sector 0 to blow it up. it seems like a lazy plot device. mind you, I'm not one of the soldiers in the war against Other M's story, I'm just trying to clarify.

the federation was coming to recover the metroids from sector zero. in fact, that's why james was sent in to kill the survivors and wipe out the evidence instead of just destroying the whole ship from space, since they needed the metroids alive. there was no way to kill them with the weapons on hand so adam used the self destruct mechanism to take them out in time.
the mb thing does have one plot hole if you've seen the final end of the game, and that is that adam somehow knew that melissa was mb before attacking sector zero. he sees melissa fooling samus into believing that she's madeline bergman and yells "samus, no!" before coming to stop her, so obviously he knew at the very least she wasn't who she said she was.
you'd think that if he knew she were the real mb he would have had samus deal with her instead of telling her to fight ridley, so maybe there's some middle way explanation where he knew she wasn't the real madeline bergman but didn't know she was mother brain. there's a screen adam looks at during that scene that might explain how he knows about mb, you'd have to pause it to see what it says.

I never got the impression that Adam knew Melissa or Madeline was MB. I think it was more of a 'It's a Trap' sorta deal. He actually says "Madeline Bergman is no ally", presumably in reference to MB.

What I didn't understand was why he didn't warn her if he was worried about MB. I mean it's conceivable that he panicked and ran off to help her, but from everything that happened prior to that cutscene, he's the last guy that you'd think would panic. That was the weakest plot point, IMHO.
I want to replay this game now, lol.

Adam lost his communicator, if you remember.
326. Posted: Tue 28th Sep 2010 18:38 BST
Oh, I don't actually. Why was he getting a video feed then?
327. Posted: Tue 28th Sep 2010 18:45 BST
I still think Adam is still alive.I'm like... 95% sure that we never actually see Sector Zero blow up.And even if Sector Zero was destroyed, there's no way to know that he didn't get out using an escape pod or something.

because it was his communicator that broke, not samus'.

There was an explosion in the distance. Sector Zero blew up.

Adam sacrifices himself because he thinks MB and unfreezable Metroids are inside Sector 0
How do you make something unfreezable anyway? Did they breed mammoths with metroids? I would've loved to have seen a woolly metroid.
...in my pants.

Umm, did you even pay attention to any of the cutscenes? Adam said that they were genetically enhanced so they wouldn't be affected by freezing temperatures.

@Link-Hero I know what he said but genetic engineering has it's limits. You can make a cow produce more milk, modify pigs to provide replacement organs for human patients, and cloning is possible too but making something immune to freezing at extreme cold temperatures isn't very feasible. They might as well make a metroid that could excrete a cure for cancer.
Whereas cross breeding animals to better survive in cold climates already has an adorable precedent in nature.

Is there some definitive proof? As far as I know, Fusion immediately follows Other M. It could just be that Samus (possibly the entire GF as well) still thinks that he is dead.Wasn't Ridley secretly cloned by the Galactic Federation scientists on the Bottle Ship, using DNA found on Samus' armor, which seemingly landed on her when Ridley exploded back in Super Metroid?

Well if he really is dead I'm sure the GF will clone him up good as new after they scrub the Malkovich particles off of Samus next time.

Space colonization has its limits, too, and Metroid exceeds them regularly. I wouldn't worry so much; it's within the science-fiction jurisdiction of the series, and it's not the most preposterous thing that Metroid wants us to believe.
