Topic: Spending $70

Got just over $70 in GameStop credit owing to trading in a few games (mainly the GC games I haven't played in ages). My question is this: would you sit on the store credit until something comes along worth buying?

The next retail releases I'm planning on getting are NSMB Wii and the Metroid Prime Collection, which are far enough off in the future that I'm sure I'll be able to buy them without too much discomfort.

So I'm thinking I might just buy $70 worth of Nintendo Points Cards. Having 7,000 points will probably encourage me to take more risks with WiiWare and VC downloads, potentially leading me to all kinds of excellent games that I wouldn't have otherwise bothered with.

But at the same time, I can't help but feel that buying 7,000 Nintendo Points on the chance that, maybe, I'll stumble upon some good ones, is a bad investment.

So what would you guys do? Sit on the money until a good retail release comes up, or spoil yourself with nostalgic downloads?

just spend about $30 on points, then save the rest for when a new game comes out

AlexSays

70 and 30 are impossible with denominations of 20.

You both lose.

I thought they sold 1,000 point cards? Perhaps I'm wrong about that; I usually buy them directly through the Wii.

2. more wiimotes and MP+
3. invite friends
4. JACKPOT!

EDIT:

7000 Points sound like a cool future investment too!

Yeah, you're wrong about that.

Preorder NSMB Wii. Get a 2000 point card. Forget about Prime Collection. Don't you already have those games?

Ah well. It's about time I'm wrong about something. I could just as easily round down to $60 or up to $80...more likely the latter since $10 store credit isn't going to do me much good...so the question remains.

@Weird Adam the Butt:
I had MP1 (traded it in) but I really want the motion controlled version of that game, enough so that I had planned on buying the NPC version all along. MP2 I never had/played. MP3 is the only one I had already had, but I don't mind buying the trilogy for two NPC games I wanted anyway.

So Brutus shops at Gamestop AND buys NPC games?

Ha. I rarely buy anything at Gamestop unless it's a used game I'm having trouble finding elsewhere. It's just that there's nowhere else around here that takes used games, so I'm kind of stuck.

Regarding the NPC issue...I confess. I am beyond help.

Listen to me dude; this is what you want to do... seriously:

It would be far wiser to save you money for future games coming out in advance; it's always the smarter thing to do!

Myself, I always think far ahead in advance when I get money & have to wait weeks or months for a game to come out! So that's why I always make lists of what I usually want in advance & try to hold onto my money the best I can!

So I'd strongly reccommend pre-ordering a game so you don't have to hold onto you money; & you can just pick it up when it comes out the day after it is released at GameStop!

Are you at least trading in MP3 before getting it? If you haven't already, that's extra credit; and really, there's not a single reason not to.

Sorry Alex, Brutus is right.

And if I were you, Brutus, I would wait for the Metroid Prime Trilogy to come out. It will be out just before the summer ends so you'll have to find some entertainment in the meantime though. Perhaps you could buy a 1000 point card in the meantime?

Gamestop (or EB Games as it is known here) is actually a decent store in Australia. They offer a 14 day no questions asked returns policy, and they pricematch. Their staff are also not annoying, and just sell you a game. When I triend to trade in a broken DS they even "accidentally" hit the button for a working DS. And they sell 1000 point cards. But if GameStop has a copy of The World Ends With You, it would be better than 10000 points.

I've seen 1000 Nintendo point cards at Wal-Marts in Canada(albeit more difficult to find than 2000 point cards) so I would assume it would apply to the US as well.

I don't see them often but they're definitely out there, along with 3000 point cards.
