(Other M refuses to even acknowledge the Prime Trilogy, which is unfortunate because they are some of the best games in the franchise, imo)

It allows for extensive use of first person perspective and includes the Seeker Missiles, which are I felt enough acknowledgment as no other material, esp. plot related, would have made much sense in Other M.

I wish that getting all the items in the game was more difficult. More difficult, as in not having their locations blatantly marked on the in-game map. Like, let me figure that out. It's a hand-holding problem Nintendo has been creating the past few years, but after reading the A Link Between Worlds interview it seems as if they're starting to turn that around. Hopefully that'll cross over to every next game they make.

Is there to was though when even at like of than with it?

I actually enjoyed this game. I will agree that that some of the gameplay could have been polished a little more (mainly the scanning sections). As far as the story goes, I would have prefered less time on her backstory and more time of the "here and now" problem of what was happening on the space station, but oh well...

@millarrp Why would you not want the backstory in there? Did it seem to out of place?

Anyone else think it's pretty cool they put real-ish guns in this game? I'm talking about the Machine Guns and Assault & Battle Rifles the 07th Platoon used in the game. It didn't seem really out of place but after playing the game I just remembered that they used them and I thought it was pretty awesome.

It's kinda cool, but it doesn't seem quite...space-like enough. Should've taken a cue from Mass Effect (IN MANY WAYS PERHAPS) in terms of weapon designs tbh (which were a nice futuristic version of standard weapons usually).

Heck now that I think about it, literally the next scene has them switching to ice beam-like weapons, and Mass Effect has the ability to add a freezing effect to your weapons.

I'm just going to say this outright. There are some elements of Metroid: Other M that I don't like, but overall, I love the game.

Maybe that's just me, a person who likes the linear Metroids and more story-heavy games in the series, but I'm being serious.

The game looks beautiful, the controls are tight and responsive, the environments are a joy to run around, there's enough exploration to keep me going back to previous areas, the dodge mechanic works beautifully... It's a brilliant game.

The few things I don't like are some of the platforming segments would have definitely worked better if you could move the camera in any way and that Adam has to authorize certain parts of your suit about 6 minutes after you needed it authorized.

Aside from that, it's a great game. 8/10.

no, you're doing it wrong! Didn't you see all the Other M fans? What you're supposed to do instead of actually enjoying your game is to assume everyone who didn't like it is a complete moron who didn't understand your perfect vid gam stry wrting!!! Obviously!

So months later, and after playing through it three times (once on easy, twice on hard), I have to say that...

It was a decent game
The difficulty leaned on the easy side
Sensemove is totally broken, but still fun to use
Samus' Other M Power Suit design beats all
I don't understand ZSS's heels and shorter height compared to all the other characters though
It was linear and unfortunately had much handholding (i.e. item locations, objective locations)
I didn't have much of a problem with the story
The way the story was presented is questionable
I don't know where to stand regarding the "hell run" sequence
The gameplay was good and I had no problem switching between first- and third-person
It felt better controlling her Morph Ball in Prime than in this one

Overall it was a fine game. A bit easy, a bit cheesy, but fine. I think they did a great job with the gameplay. Just, the way the story was presented was not as good. Like, you don't flat-out say someone is your father figure. I wish it was more subtle, I guess. Hopefully they'll learn and make the next Metroid better.

I sold my copy to gamestop for 10¢. Thats all they would give me. And no, the game was good for one playthrough, but it wasn't going home with me again lol

I personally believe it's not as terrible as everyone makes it out to be both in story and gameplay. This could be debated by many people for years on end, but the fact is that this game divided the metroid audience and no one is going to "win."

I am playing the game right now for my first time since it released (only got a few hours into it before I stop playing, for reasons I can't remember) and I literally want to slap myself in the face for ignoring this amazing masterpiece for so long! I had forgotten how much I really enjoy Metroid games. I was sitting here thinking how much I wanted to play a new one and then it hit me- there IS a new one I haven't played lol. Why it took me four years to do it I couldn't tell you, but I'm playing it now and that's what counts.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who really loves this game. In fact I don't really have a single complaint. Well, I take that back. I can find a complaint with any game if I wanted to, and in this game I would have to say it's greatest down fall is not using a Nunchuk. But, it is what it is and I'm enjoying it regardless so hey.

I'm just so happy I'm getting to play a new Metroid game I've never played before. It's like Christmas all over again!

CURRENTLY PLAYING

WII U: Smash Bros.....Bayonetta 2
VITA: Tales of Hearts R.....Freedom Wars
PS4: Far Cry 4.....Dragon Age Inquisition.....GTAV

Haha, yeah. It's such a good game. My favorite Metroid next to Fusion. Yeah, I have some complaints about it, but it's overshadowed by what it does well, and that's what counts. I had fun, I got it for dirt cheap, and that is good stuff right there.

The boss fights are probably among my favorite parts in the game, particularly Ridley and Vorash. I love having to keep on my toes and use certain moves or fire missiles at the right time in order to take them down. I mean, you kinda do that in Prime, but in Prime, the bosses had way too much health and it kinda got tedious just shooting them in their weak spot over and over and over again. It was immensely satisfying to beat them, but then once you beat them then it's more boring first-person adventuring. Other M's gameplay outside of the boss battles was very appealing to me, and everything flowed quite nicely.
