I just picked up a used wii and wanted to know if I should just go from the old wii to the composite input on my HDTV or should I get the composite to HDMI converter?

Thanks!

A composite to HDMI converter doesn't improve your image. If you mean the HDMI converter connected to the console than you could use that or get the Wii component cable(though it gives a slightly less sharp image than HDMI).

The Wii is not powerful enough to produce more pixel to create an HD-like picture, even with composite to HDMI converter. A component cable may help make the picture look a little better.

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

I recommend the component cable instead of either of those. The composite cable that comes out of the box gives poor video quality compared to the component cable or the HDMI converter. I've tried one of those cheap Wii/HDMI converters: the picture was as sharp as the component cable, but the colors were off. That is, the brights were too bright and the darks were too dark. Also, the sound was louder than other input sources. I guess the Wii/HDMI converter will work well if you find one that does not distort the colors, since my experience is that they do work. But the component cable is more straightforward and problem free.
