Sakamoto, your assessment is way, way off.
Other M failed because Samus' characterization was weird and kind of went against the "hardened bounty hunter" we knew and loved from previous games. Also, the plot was a mess, and it was full of unnecessary Japanesey animesque silliness (a sentient AI shaped like human girl, Adam, the baby, and so much more). Also, there were way too many Insurmountable Waist-High Fences which really, really tested my willing suspension of disbelief.

Some sections of the otherwise amazing game have you go into first-person mode and you have to find something on the screen... Using the Wii remote...

This is a tough one, because while I do agree that he created a strong female character with Samus Aran in Other M, I do not agree that he should've faulted the game's shortcomings on having a female main character. He knew fans had a love for Super Metroid as he worked with Other M, so why not respond by saying his approach wasn't what the fans of the series have grown accustomed to and that he should focus again on a strong sense of environmental storytelling. He instead blames the gender of Samus and states the idea that Adam should be the lead in the next Metroid game. No thanks Sakamoto, go back to how you handled your previous Metroid titles before Other M.

I was fine with Other M's story. I wasn't expecting anything in specific. I do agree to Sakamoto's comment to an extent. But Samus' character is somewhat awkward to react to in the game, and her deep dialogue doesn't help.
The pixel-hunting was also pretty bad.
I was actually thinking for awhile. "Now that we know the story of Samus, why don't they make a new protagonist?"
But I wouldn't want Malkovich to be the lead, because, I don't really like him.

.....Okay, after doing a little bit of research, I found out that this article is fake. Sakamoto never said those things. The source is a troll website that specializes in fake news. Huh.

Looking at this site, it was pretty obvious.

How do you know that it is a fake? It looked fake to me when I looked at the article, but I'm not 100% sure.

I cannot believe that so many users fell for this. Does that sound like something Sakamoto would say? Always check sources before posting to make sure you've got your facts straight. Also notice that none of these laughably created parody articles have any sources linked, nor can the "quotes" be found on any other site on the internet when searched for. If anyone thinks someone claiming that Nintendo poked dogs with man sized styluses in the making of Nintendogs isn't lying/joking, they need to get their head examined.

With the exception of making Adam the lead and referring to players being emasculated, it somewhat does.

Just to clarify, my point in saying that was not whether or not it could've been real. It's just unlikely to the point that anyone who looked at this should've immediately seen problems and went to the source. Just skimming their daily content for a minute before posting shows that their articles are not meant to be taken seriously.

Also, they made a factual error in the article. Beyond the subject matter, that is. Although male pronouns are used to refer to Kirby in the localizations, I'm pretty sure that Kirby's gender is unknown in Japan. So, Sakamoto wouldn't use Kirby as leverage for his sexism argument.

samus was completly emotionless before. she had mental breakdown look up the manga,it specifically mentions she had PTSD.

I'm gonna go ahead and lock this since it's fake. would've been a great post for April Fools' :3
