So, in this remake and rebranding day and age, why in the world has a remake or a reinventing of the great Atari game, River Raid, not been done? For those that don't know, River Raid was pretty much the first game that spawned such games at 1942, 1943, or any top down airplane game we see today (trust me, those games are have a lot more River Raid influence then, say, Galaxian).

This was by far my favorite Atari game and put in an insane amount of time, but with the appropriate amount of time and attention, this could be a great game on the Wii...or Wiiware, but I'd rather see it on the Wii...plus, it was an Activision game...

Plus, as great as the games like 1943 were, they still didn't hold my attention as much as River Raid did.

I loved River Raid, and would grab a (most likely WiiWare) remake in a heartbeat.

I loved this one too. Exceptional game, still have the cart, plus it was included in the Flashback2 if i remember right. I would absolutley buy a remake. And interesting you mentioned 1942, another game i loved. Though i agree, i get more enjoyment from RIver Raid (though its admittedly close).

The Shpydarloggery
She-Ra is awesome. If you believe otherwise, you are clearly wrong.
Urban Champion is GLORIOUS.

I've turned around, and I wouldn't mind a WiiWare release. Maybe diff. styles of planes, of course, gotta keep the bridge element to get to the next level. Keep the helicopters but maybe, and this is just a thought...ditch running over the fuel stations to regain fuel, and instead do a Spy Hunter-like fuel plane where you fly up to refuel. Plus, in this day and age, add a few more enemy elements but I wouldn't mind keeping the static/dumb enemies because the fun of River Raid for me was the challenge the level design presented, not the enemies.

1942 was great as well...huge fan of the series, just liked RR more. So, guess it's time to start campaigning to Activision...that is if they still own the rights.

Don't know; why doesn't Activision, EA or Atari leverage any of their old 8-bit IP at all? It's a mystery to me...

I just got an Atari Flashback 2 off Ebay a few weeks ago... gonna go play some River Raid right now!

Well, there was a River Raid 2, which was nowhere near as good as the original. That might've scared them off.

That is a great point because, if studies are to be believed, most of us started gaming at the tail end of the Atari life span (played the hell out of my 2600) and the beginning of the 8-bit era. Therefore, we are all familiar with the properties and a lot of them could be phenomenal if done correctly. I know Pitfall, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders and Pacman have been done to death (and not always that good), but that's only two properties out of how many?

And certainly Space Invaders and Pac-Man are still profitable enough to warrant new games featuring them; spitting out collections shouldn't be too hard, surely?
