I bought this game I think like a year ago, only playing it now. It's not the best shooter I've played, but it's really fun so far. It avoids the awful COD wannabe cliches and is just dumb and silly. Also, sword controls that are as good as Skyward Swords except it allows movement. It also had a good boss battle, which almost never happens in FPS.
I played through that game a couple of times. It is great fun, has loads of style, moves like a charm and all the concepts of awesome are in place. I love the first person motion camera too, really makes it work.
This has got to be one of the Wii's best games. It used the Wii Motion Plus to its greatest potential, and I've played Skyward Sword. In fact, Skyward Sword had good motion based combat, but horrible sword simulation combat that uses the Motion Plus. It could only be flicked, anything more would make go in the wrong direction. Red Steel 2 though, it really made you feel like a swordsman and made really swing to play the game. I got the game on launch day with no regrets. I actually remember seeing the E3 announcement trailer with the wolves and the guy picking the Wii mote and playing the game, I was sold on the game from moment I saw that trailer. I've played it three times, and started a 4th playthrough. A Red Steel 3, even though it'll probably never happen, would be a day one purchase.
I love RS2, it's totally different from its predecessor and does everything better: the swordsplay, the shooting mechanics, the graphical style, etc. Definitely one of the best games on Wii.
Honestly while the gameplay is quite good, the story isn't working for me at all. It's trying to be an intentionally silly story, but outside of the fact that one of the villains is clearly Nappa from DBZ Abridged, it's not doing anything for me even for a silly video game story. Thankfully there isn't too much of it so far...
I didn't like Red Steel 2 that much to be honest...
I Bought the Red Steel 2 pack that contained the Wii motion plus accesory and I just never got that too deeply into it. I actually loved the swordplay in Skyward Sword, but found Red Steel 2 made my arm really tired and the flow of the game itself was kind of clunky. It's a shame No More Heroes 2 didn't come out with motion plus...that was a far superior game with some of the most insane bosses ever.
Yeah the story's silly and it's a little repetitive... but the WM+ sword controls make this one of my favourite action games of all time. There's just something to charging up your sword, launching someone in the air, switching to an over-powered shotgun and shooting them back down that feels so right. I really hope we get one or two more 1:1 sword games on Wii U. Probably not
EDIT: A No More Heroes WM+ game would make me sooooo happy
I liked Red Steel 2 but the tutorial was a bit too slow and I thought the original had better graphics and level design. If they could somehow make a game that was a crossover of the two I would buy it.
I only posted this to get my avatar as the forum's thumbnail.

Yeah, the tutorials are a pain, probably one of the worst parts of the game. The fact that they are unskipable is even worse when you are playing the game for the 3rd or 4th time.
