I bought the game in the WiiU eshop and I am very impressed. The game looks great in 480p on the GamePad and it is nice to play a Wii Game with the GamePad buttons, finally. It is much harder to play with two control sticks than with the Wii remote but it works okay for me.

But I do not understand the function of the ZR and ZL buttons. They don't work the same as the L/R buttons...

So when you buy Wii games on the Wii U you can use the gamepad? I didn't know that!

Yes. You can choose the GamePad as a Classic Controller. So the game has to support a Classic Controller for this. Pandora's tower is the first Wii game in the EShop with this feature as far as I know.

Cool! But it wont work with the gamepad if I bought it physically correct?

No, it won't work with the Disc-Version. At the moment this is feature exclusive for the EShop-Wii-games. That might change in future but I don't think so.
It is worth noting that you are not able to change the controller in the running game. You have to choose in the WiiU menu while starting the game if you want to play with the gamepad or not. That is similar to the choice of the display (TV or gamepad).

Thank you for the help! I just bought the game before the sale ran out. Yes, I would save HDD space by getting it physically but it would be more expensive and I'm gonna buy an external hard drive sooner or later anyway so...

All that said I highly recommend using the Wii remote and Nunchuck on this one.

The aiming is far faster and easier, and the gesture control is just natural enough to pull you into the game more.

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

I've been playing Ico as of late, and I've realized that Pandora's Tower is almost like a more fleshed out Ico. Granted I haven't beaten Ico yet, but that's the vibe I've been getting. It uses a catastrophy and a feeling of isolation to build your relationship with a female character, only now puzzles have a lot more thematic diversity, combat is more fleshed out, and the world is given more background in an implicit fashion.

Just to chime in with my two cents - this is a great, under-rated game. Like others have said, the atmosphere is great, the game play mechanincs are tight and fun, the bosses are enjoyable. It has a great mix of platforming, exploration, rpg elements, and I like the way it looks. Just get it

I got this game a year ago, got creeped out and stuffed it away, then I picked it up again and started having a lot of fun. I put it down again after that but still plan to finish it. It's frustrating at times but it's worth the price the Wii U is giving it.

I agree it's very underrated and overshadowed by Last Story and Xenoblade. This game is much more down my ally anyways, I would go on to say even Zelda should learn a thing or two from it. I also thought the graphics were quite impressive for a Wii game, blended well with a great atmosphere.

WTH?! I can't enter the Fire Tower anymore!!! Everytime I do so the game hard-freezes my console....this is the same as the game-breaking bug that this game had in the physical release, but it's WAY earlier in the game than it's supposed to be and due to this there's no work-around...

Has anyone else run across this issue in the digital version of the game?

I finally beat this game last night to complete the Operation Rainfall trilogy. I thought it was good, but definitely my least favorite of the three (with the rare opinion that The Last Story was my favorite). The masters were definitely the highlight, but I don't really see where everyone is coming from that the combat is great. I basically just mashed A over and over unless they were too pesky in which case I just chained them and yanked them to death. People complain about Zelda when you just get a new item in a dungeon and only used it in that dungeon and for that boss and then never use it again, and they want Zelda to take cues from this game. Well PT is basically like getting the hookshot in the first dungeon and then never getting another item again and using it on every boss. Anyway, I only got the B ending because I got tired of trying to remember what gifts I had already given Elena and gave up, but I think I will just watch a video on Youtube of the better endings. I basically wanted to finish it just to find out what happens. I can watch a video to see that and don't need to play again.
