Sorry, I don't normally read the forums over the week-end except to action complaints.

The random encounters were kind of tedious early on (honestly, one every two or three seconds? Come on!), but the game is so charming that's it's impossible not to like it. I've just finished the boss at Lifeborn, so I have no clue how much more there is to it, but I'm enjoying it. I do plan on playing it through all the way before reviewing it and I'm playing it largely to the exclusion of everything else at the moment (that will change once I get Cursed Mountain in the post, though that game isn't as long) in the hopes that will be sooner rather than later. I'm unlikely to do all the side quests, but unlike Twilight Princess they don't feel as bizarre and incongruous since the world isn't ending imminently!

It gets my recommendation based upon what I've played so far; hopefully it won't take a turn for the worse! Oh, and I tried the Classic Controller, but I didn't care for it, so it's Nunchuk all the way as the devs intended.

For me, the game is showing a lot of promise. I'm barely into it, but what I've gotten through so far has definitely kept me interested.

I guess I'll have to breack down and play it soon. I know it sounds wierd, but I had it when I started this thread(got it for $10 at gamestop, could have got it used for less but didn't. I just didn't want to open it because I couldn't take it back if I did. From what I hear though, I guess I don't need to worry. Thanks to everyone (You too Sean.) Glad you like it. I think it reminds some people of earthbound, from what I recall. I figure that it might be because of some of the enemys, from what I've seen on video or picture. Do you feel this way?

It has an interesting old-school feel to it. It's not terribly difficult, but it doesn't hold your hand either and it's really all about the journey and the experience rather than trying to be challenging; in that regard it's quite refreshing. And did I say the music is amazing? When you're running around getting lost in the bloody domes trying to get your bearings due to the rubbish maps and lack of signage the music really helps make it bearable. They really should do a soundtrack CD for it.

Yeah mappage kind of stinks. Would think that would be part of the OMP. Combat is interesting as well, though I prefer to use the D-pad on the WiiMote for target selection.

yeah i totally forgot about he great music! it's really awesome.

und the other hand... the fights will get really hectic in the later parts ('cause of real time when you switch to menu so you almost never gonna use magic later on). but when you grind just a littel bit that's not a real problem.

but then again....you got the awesome photosessions for the passport

Combat against multiple rogues definitely took a bit of getting used to. Learning to use your food in combat to heal was a bit tricky when you have 5+ baddies beating on you!

Yes! The music is amazing. They unfortunately didn't make a soundtrack (or a strategy guide which REALLY makes me sad) so I just found a gamerip on the internets. It's the same composer who did FFXII, Xenogears, and FF Tactics. Another reason I like using the classic controller is that - brings up the map, however useless it is. Sure it's great if you want to know the layout of the floor you're on, but it's worthless for navigation because that's all it shows. and + toggles the hoverboard on and off.

Hmmm, these fights in Alteia are becoming more fierce to be sure; I keep on forgetting about The Force though!

Sean, I had the same problem. I think by the time I got to Intelligent Sea, I learned to actually use and trust my force (and head for the garden of madness)

I beat the Artiela boss yesterday after many attempts. Items/The Force are clearly a must when facing a boss surrounded by other enemies! The characters have interesting dimension to them even if the retro method of pausing dialogue whilst a character turns slows things down a bit.

Hopefully I'll progress to a 3 Star ranger soon!

Sean, what level were you when you fought this boss? I was doing some reading prior to heading off to the Wind Ravine and someone said they had a tough time as a level 4. I beefed myself up to a level 6, went in and focused on the boss (with the other guys whaling away at me) and only had to heal once (lost approximately 40 health total).

I think I was level 10+. I really keep on focusing on the boss rather than the minons and they dish out the most pain. Once I figured that out I still ended up getting clobbered just because I wasn't using Force properly. Having someone focus on healing everyone whilst the other one does the fighting worked the best -- I don't even see how you could get that far as a level 4 with all the random encounters!

Can someone help me please? I'm in the Bravo Company in Intelligent Sea.
I'm searching for the director of the company. Looked everywhere, in every corner of every room of that "hotel".
Can't progress until I find him.

Where does he hide? Too lazy to look around in every room for a third time.

That is one of the aspects that makes putting the game down for any length of time difficult. If you're in the middle of an assignment the game doesn't record that for you, you have to go back to the clerk at the job board to get it again and just remember it (or write it down). A bit odd really given the online nature of the culture you're visiting!

If you talked to every person in Bravo, one of them (I think he's on the 3rd floor) should have told you the chairman is in the museum (which is as soon as you walk in the entrance to Bravo) If he's not there, you have to go talk to that guy on the third floor first to see where the director is.
