Topic: Online Games Has Locked Save Data

Hello all,
I know that this is not somehting new that online Will games has locked save data.
However, since it IS making problems for people that want to back up their save data and since the Wii online gaming servers has been either way shut down, don't you think it's for Nintendo to do something about that?
If homebrews apps can let you transfer save data of online games to SD cards there is now reason why Nintendo wouldn't be able to do it...
I have tried contacting them through email but apparently they have changed the whole contacting procedure on their site and I can figure out how to send them an email.
Well, that's it guys, I'm sure that the fact that we can't back up some of our hard earned save data is bothering a lot of gamers, so any ideas on how to contact Nintendo about that? 'Cause it's about time that they'll do something about that, especially now, that online gaming for the Wii is not enabled...

I agree that it should be addressed, but since it's a Wii problem, Nintendo may not be bothered about it. Their main focuses are Wii U, 3DS, and NX.

@LztheQuack I know, I have thought about that too but I am also pretty sure that it is just a matter of an update or something like that. Also, this is Wii U related as much as it is Wii related, since you basically have a built in Wii inside your Wii U. By the way, I don't even own a Wii, just a Wii U...

I can understand why save data for online-enabled games were locked (I assume that this was to prevent save data from being shared and used simultaneously online across various Wii consoles, which could cause problems for the servers), but I too am disappointed that Nintendo has failed to address this after shutting down the servers by allowing us to finally back-up our save data, particularly for games that require countless hours to complete (or unlock all of the content).

@LztheQuack: Don't you mean NX, NX and NX?

Spam?

I don't know how Nintendo would fix this "problem". They have to release a new system update for the Wii which alternate the data management. I don't think Nintendo will go trough this trouble just for a small amount of people who want to back up save states.

But if you want to back up everything, you can simply use homebrew apps.

@sillygostly: Yeah I know. I have discovered that issue after trying to back up my Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Duel Transer save data, which took me nearly 100 hours to finish! Now, I have a sealed copy of The Last Story and I don't know if I even want to open that and start play because I know that someday I'll have to say goodbye to this save file...

@gaming_24_7: To be honest I thought about that earlier today, but I have a Wii U, not a Wii, which was bought using hard earned cash and I'm afraid to run such things on my system. Though it is still very tempting... Either way, Nintendo has to do something about that matter, and as I said if homebrews can do that, why can't they? We just have to let them know about that! I am realistic and I know that there is a big chance that they'll do nothing, It's just that I don't think that it is a small amount of people that are concerned by this matter, I think that most of the people just don't believe that they will do something about it. However, I, at least, am feeling that I have to do something about that issue...

Okay, I understand. A WiiU is too expensive to risk faulty homebrew. But why do you bother about back ups? I have old SNES games in which I put 100 hours of my youth. The save file still exists but I wouldn't care if it had been lost since I played the game such a long time ago. However, I see your problem and understand it. You really should write Nintendo and do something about it. But be aware, that most likely there will be no such update.

To my knowledge, the only way around this is to mod your Wii, but I'm not doing that on my main Wii, I'm not willing to lose a years worth of playing Animal Crossing City Folk

Yeah I would have thought they'd at least have addressed this for Wii mode on the Wii U given that the Wii->Wii U migration copies these files it's clearly possible to do so. I'm able to backup all my games and their integrated save data on the Wii U, but not being able to back up the save data for games like Sin and Punishment - which I purchased from the eShop - is ridiculous.
