that fps (first person shooters) work on the wii and it just doesn't make sense wouldn't you think that with the control system on the wii, fps games would be perfect for the wii but my friends disagree

You would think. But I dislike FPSs all together. I've never played one on the Wii though, but that's what the Prime Trilogy is for

Can you imagine going to an arcade and seeing House of the Dead, or Ghost Squad, any of those shooters without guns but joysticks and buttons instead? In my opinion, the Wii's controls lend themselves well to FPS games, it's just a matter of how the more complicated, non-trigger controls such as movement, weapons selection, reloading, and other options are configured.

I'm trying The Conduit with two profiles, one using the Wiimote and 'chuk in separate hands, and the other using the Zapper. I think if you're trying to make a shooter feel like a shooter, well, you should be holding a shooter. The jury's still out though.

The subject line is 100% correct. No one seems to think anymore. Buncha morons.

Anyway, I think the Wii COULD be good with FPS, but I don't really care much. If it isn't Metroid Prime, I don't really care about it.

the answer is simple... many idiots think that fps = graphics
nobody cares taht you actually PLAY an fps... so because the wii has inferiour graphics they think its inferior as a whole.

You hit the nail right on the head. I had some issues going from the Wii COD:WAW which I purchased and played for months before purchasing it for the 360. Personally, even a mediocre control style for a FPS on the Wii is more accurate and sensative than a controller. A lot of my friends could not understand what I was talking about, until I showed them. When they figured out the whole, 'Wait, I can just point and shoot?' concept...they agreed with me that the control scheme is superior on the Wii...now, if developers just got that. From a gamers standpoint, 360 and PS3 fanboys will say anything negative about the Wii just to knock it down. As we all know, they love graphics above all else.

Meh, I've grown weary of FPSs at this point in my gaming life anyway, having played them from the get-go. Halo 3 bored me to tears, i only finished it because i would have felt bad trading it in if i hadn't. Honestly, i'm far more likely to play Doom or Wolfenstein, GoldenEye or Perfect Dark if i want a FPS-fix (looking forward to Perfect Dark's soon-to-be release on XBLA).

But yeah, it's definitely the HD issue that's part of keeping FPSs away, which from the developer's standpoint is understandable -- they can essentially have one team develop a game for both HD consoles, but would have to (likely) devote a separate team (albeit smaller) to developing the Wii version or port. Given that the demographic that is into FPSs are PS3/360 players (whether or not they also have a Wii), the financial incentive isn't always there. Combine that with the overall reputation/perception of the Wii as a casual/kiddie/family mini-game machine, and it's not too surprising we don't see more FPSs on Wii.

Thats real talk right there, that is the key point, hopefully games like the conduit (which i am supporting) will influence other devs to build ground up FPS games exclusive on the console. Some TPS like our own wii equivalents for Gears of War could also be very appreciated

Ya but for arguments sake, on the flipside of what uve said, we've also yet to see a lot of well developed and wii-prioritized fps' on the wii either...

Fair enuf, we need like 3 or 4 wii exclusive fps developers, and then like 2 wii exclusive TPS devs, and hopefully they would release their games in different seasons, to keep us constantly happy

to be honest i'd love a flood of wii fps games.... you dont HAVE to buy every one of them! so long as other games are still developed in the same frequency they are now

I've played and sold Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, it was alright with the Wii Remote - Nunchuk - setup,
but was more immersive using the Wii Zapper (or other gun-type accessory I guess) where, like you
had to tilt to look around corners, but it was awkward having to use the A button. Others games don't
have that problem, but others do too.

I had MP3:C before it got lost (hooray for the MPCollection coming out Aug. 09) and it was very incredibly ...
tight and great progression from MP(1). The scenes and voicing were good addition, too.

Now, yeah, I'm glad too there is not really much FPSes.
It likes make people crazy (lol) and only think of certain way or something.
I've got experience with people only thinking of 'graphics',
its depressing and annoying having to explain or even after explaining and such,
they just want some GTA/GoW type-game with 'amazing graphics'.

But, wait, wait, you know what's even more annoying,
when they talk about the graphics in Non-Nintendo game about, 'oh, look at the detail, oh, it feels/looks like real, oh, this..'
about the graphics mainly which includes cosmetic-damage etc.etc. Though, it's nice to see first time
and be pointed of things, =D, uhm, that's not just a game, that's just more of a tech-demo.
Devs (for FPS mostly) have just like been using one style tech-demo over and over
with just more things happening or on screen or something. (Kidding mostly, I guess they want realism... move on)

I'm sure some like actual games (for Wii or otherwise) but their group, demographic, like forbids this,
or it makes them sound or be dumb, in their small expression of life and speech (at the moment or something, too)

Thank goodness there isn't a flood of that stuff. It would take away devs on what they could really be making:
fun (inspiring, original, creative, colourful, exciting, non-extreme-violent, etc.) games!

EDIT: I actually don't want realism at all. It would be awful like another F-acronym: FMV.
No sir, no real image-like. It's great that the graphics, style, everything, is nice, neat and fun with the Wii,
I wouldn't want to even be in VR, unless done differently-well-different direction.

Yeah, some people just want realism, in a non-realistic way (violent game)
Well, that's like just wanting to get away with stuff.
Which is like what they're trying to do with their expression gaming:
getting away with disturbing comments, harassment, non-sense,
just possibly for their mood-ego-sake. (I think more people died from
trying to get PS3s than Wii or so, how is that for realism)

Thats not the reason i want a GoW equivalent on wii (GoW is mostly dull colors for the first game anyway, thats not so attractive). I want a GoW equivalent because i like local multiplayer shooters 3rd person and 1st person. We don't have many FPS but we have way more than the neglected TPS on wii, i got ghostbusters and like the third person in that...maybe redfly can continue this third person stuff, and to make it better they shud work with the Bwii people to make it a sensation. But ya sorry i definitely wasn't talkin about graphics, just wanna clear that up (i own wii's James Bond...not a graphics masterpiece at all but still hella fun)

The Wii isn't very good for FPS games. Everything besides controls (literally every other part of the game) has to be downgraded for the console, and to someone that has played with dual-analog controllers for years, switching to IR isn't the second-coming it's made out to be.

Then the Wii remote doesn't seem like it has enough buttons quickly accessible when playing so that's another drawback. Playing with a controller just seems easier, and a little more fast paced.

It's fine for on-rails shooters where it's just point and click, but this gen I still put Wii remote behind dual-analog and keyboard & mouse.
The remote just doesn't make up for all the shortcomings of the console it's used for.

So are u saying u regret buying ur wii since the controls arent as good as dual analog? And also an idea ive had for a while, what do u think about companies making the vc controller their dual analog controller? i think the new pro vc controller really looks like an xbox or ps system controller and cud work for companies that want dual analog...what u think of that?

O....big chirps lol. ur right tho, it does defeat the purpose, but its ur own choice to defeat it, ill still use my wiimote, but if some people like gamecube or vc controls i think its always nice to have the option for that. Mario kart wii did it and so did brawl, so i guess choice is always something worth having. I see nothing wrong with wiimotes, but he does n he counts as a customer just as much as i do, if u only please 1/2 of ur customers, u only achieve half the satisfaction, thats the way i was looking at that, but i definitely get ur point
