I know that NSMB Wii is a brand new game and not a remake of the DS version but anyone else here thinks that the levels and worlds look identical to the DS version with maybe pipes and platforms rearranged? I mean, the screenshots show a desert world, a sky world, a snow world, an underground and underwater level and an identical mid-boss battle room to the DS version and I don't see any brand new worlds it just looks like they take the DS version and rearranged everything to make it look like a new game. What do you all think?
Let's face it, platform games have been using desert, ice mountain, volcano, jungle, green hill etc. levels since they were first created. As long as the platforms and obstacles are arranged in a different way - which they will be, as it's aimed at multiplayer - I think it's ace.
I'd compare it to Zelda: Four Swords Adventure. It might share a graphical style with Link to the Past, but the mechanics will be quite different. I hope.
I'm guessing what you mean is different locations that the platforming will take place. If so, then no. SMB has always been about stage design, not exotic locations. Most hardcore SMB fans would still play an SMB game even if it didn't have a background or exotic locations.

@Prosody: i think someone overreacted, is all... RWP seems to have been on the money with his 'fanboiz' assessment.
back to the topic, i don't mind that there aren't new worlds available, so long as the levels are all original. :3

Honestly, there aren't many more themes of worlds that haven't been used (ie water, sky, ice, etc.). I think that NSMB Wii is using similar themes for their worlds, but they shouldn't be the same as the DS version.

It takes place in Where ever Mario lives, so it has geography native ot that land.
You were expecting Green gables? You were expecting Emerald City?

You do realize that every 2-D Mario game always has those exact same worlds right?

I wouldn't mind them bringing back some of the worlds in Super Mario Bros. 3 like Pipe Maze and Giant World. But yeah, every 2D (and most 3D) Mario's have the same types of worlds in them.
Now if they mixed it up and added a Galaxy World (with some cool gravitational physics) that would be ace too
Here's the way I see it: we're getting the first 2-D Mario game on a home console since the SNES. Mario is the greatest platforming franchise out there. How could this game NOT be amazing?
