@pie4prez: I assume you mean downloading and not loading in the demos themselves?
Anyways, Nintendo seems to restrict single downloads to 40meg. So...can a Wii demo fit in that size? You'd be surprised how much space a game can fill up if not prepared for small spaces. So, while I would love demos, Nintendo will probably not do it.
A game cube disc held 4.7 GB of data. A Wii one holds so much data the Wii would need a PS3's hard drive for it to work.
Actually Gamecube games are 1.4gb. Wii games are 4.7. But when ripped some games can be as small as 100mb. Plus if PSP demos have taught us anything, a demo for a 900mb game can fit in a 70mb file if they get rid of a lot of stuff. But Nintendo won't ever have demos due to the poorly designed firmware (notably the myriad of different IOS's that prevent updating).
Just videos for the games would be nice -- why aren't there more media assets available? Are Nintendo unwilling to provide the space for them on their servers or is it the companies aren't really extending themselves to provide it?
Free demos would be the best thing ever in my opinion. I would like to try a demo for free than pay for a rental in a dirty case.
a good conduit and super mario galaxy 2 demos would be nice..
War was beggining... What happen? Someone set us up the bomb. Main screen turn on. How are you gentlemen? ALL YOUR BASE...BASE..BASE..ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US. What you say?

You make a good point. Remember when Metroid Prime 3 came out? I remember there being a Metroid channel with lots of info and stuff, that got me pumped for the release. At the very least, it would be nice to see even just first-party Nintendo games with their own channels full of info, videos, etc.

Yeah, that Metroid Prime channel did sell the game to me. Lots of games have videos on the Nintendo Channel, though many of them aren't obvious because you can only access them through the "Suggest a Game to Me" button, but most of them are simply titles with release date and publisher information. It's nice when they have trailers attached and some of those also show up on the main Nintendo Channel page, though I think all of them should, really.
