Wait, so you don't have to do the regular platforming sections? How do you skip them, just get high scores on the chase missions? Well that's what I'm going to do from now on then. Thanks for the tip.
You don't skip them - you just don't have to return to them once you've completed them as you can just select which game you want to play in each dream once it is complete. You do need to do them to unlock the final stage and to get a full A ranking, but if you don't want to play them after that you don't need to.
The Fox - have you played both NiGHTS games recently? Both games have a fixed camera that are basically side view throughout the game - unless you're referring to the platform sections, which are just extra stages for the Wii game anyway. The Saturn version also has some harsh pop-up making it hard to see what is coming sometimes - so I'd say it has worse cameras. The basic game of the Wii version is still combo-based quasi-3D flight and I find you can rank up much more impressive links in the Wii version of the game - there was no challenge to this in the Saturn game after a while as you just learnt the map and knew exactly where to fly each time. When chasing something as well, it makes it much harder to get all those combos.
As for awful story and cutscenes - you only need to view those once so I don't see how it's a problem. Don't get me wrong - I love the Saturn game with a passion, I just think the Wii version tops it.

So you do have to do the platforming sections? sigh. If they make a sequel to this (and given the poor sales they probably won't) they should make it based only around the flying missions--although there's one in the Wii one where NiGHTS turns into a boat thats really fun.

Under-rated? Well, everyone has a game they like that others don't. Mine is NMH. Apparently yours is NiGHTS (blech.)

Thank you for expressing your opinion in a kind and respectful way. I personally am just in love with this game, but I understand that it's not for everyone. It's just like nothing I've ever played before, and I can't stop playing it. But thank you for stomping all over my opinion of this game

I think you can get them pretty cheap on ebay. I'd lost my copy and my Saturn was broken and I didn't have much trouble picking everything up again on there. I also got the 3D controller for £5 which I'd never had before.
"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." Matt. 1:21.
Don't get the PlayStation 2 version of Nights unless you have a Japanese PS2. It wont work otherwise - it uses J-NTSC and apparently wont even display even if it is chipped. Nights is very common on the Saturn - if you want to try that version you're probably just looking at £30 for the game, controller and machine.
I've always wanted to try the original NiGHTS for the Saturn, but since I don't want to spend all that money on a Saturn I was really looking forward to this. Then I heard all the negative press about it, and now I'm all depressed. Is it really that bad?
Even then, I still might give it a rent sometime down the road.
@Madgear. That's really all it is for the system AND game? Awesome! I gotta head on over to ebay!
EDIT: I just realized that you posted the price in Euros. So it's probably gonna be worth a bit more in US dollars.
Actually that's pounds, not Euros. To be honest you probably could get it for $30 if you shop around - the price just depends on the seller. The game is just so common that you wont be expected to pay through the roof for it.
NiGHTS on Wii is not a bad game by any means. There are bad bits in it, like the voice acting and some of the missions are poor. I stick to the main flying missions (like the ones in the original except this time you're chasing a bird) and I still enjoy it. If you like score based games you might like it. I'm just saying that NiD on the saturn is far superior. A classic even.
I dont listen to IGN and Gamespot anyomore since they gave Sonic Unleashed PS3 a 3.5.
Pretty much everyone bashed the PS3 version. Sorry, but it's true. I hear you, though. I usually trust IGN, but they bashed NiGHTS Wii. Gamespot actually gave this game a good review (7.5 is pretty solid). When there's a game like this that I'm interested in, I go on metacritic and look at the good reviews, read them, and see if it sounds like something I'm interested in.
