If any one is on the fence about Nights: Journey of Dreams, well I just picked up a new copy of Nights from Toys R Us for $8. I haven't played it yet as I also picked up The Conduit with Nights so I have been busy working my way through the single player for The Conduits.

For $8 you can't go wrong with NiGHTS.

I bought Nights when it first came out and thought it was ok and had some neat features like the ability to build your own dream world and share with others also the weather channel interacting with the game and special seasons like christmas and halloween having an afect on your personal dream world was good too.
Unfortunately it wasnt the best game in the world and some of the boss battles were frustrating so when I decided to trim down my collection of wii games ( I hadnt relised I had over 60 ) it never made the cut. But at $8 it IS definately worth the money.

It's OK but nowhere near as good as the original one on Saturn. I got bored of the Wii one after a while because the scoring system was too basic. I only ever play the chase missions . The rest of it is just not good.
The soundtrack is stellar though.

I kind of want to check Toys R Us now and see if I can find it for the same price. I see Amazon.com has it for $15...is that too much, if I can't find it for cheaper?

I actually almost bought this yesterday. It seems like a pretty good game. The main complaint I've read is that the "on-foot" sections aren't very good. I've seen it pretty cheap, I'll probably check it out eventually. Does anybody here really recomend it?

According to CAG other than Toys R Us Amazon has the cheapest.

Kid_A: I'd recommend it if you're into score-chasing. The chase missions are pretty good. If you can get your hands on a Saturn though I'd really recommend NiGHTS into Dreams. It's miles better. Brilliant scoring system, music, level-design, character design, it has a lot going for it.
I will warn you though if you get JoD for the Wii... be prepared to sit through a lot of annoying cut-scenes and terrible voice acting. There's none of that in the Saturn one either.
Also, there was a remake of NiGHTS into Dreams released in Japan for the PS2.

First I'd just like to say I'm a long time NiGHTS fan (see I even spell it right). I played the original Saturn version to death - discovered everything and became so good I got an A ranking every time I played. However I prefer NiGHTS Journey of Dreams on the Wii - seriously.

Everyone says it has its problems such as long cutscenes, platforming sections, voice acting etc. Seriously this doesn't affect the game at all in the long term. First of all every stage has a chace mission for the first round - this is the traditional NiGHTS gameplay from the Saturn days. It is a bit different but I think it is improved - with the Saturn version I can go on forever just collecting the orbs, getting endless links and finishing the round - if you're as good as me there really is no challenge after a while. With the Wii game, though, you still have to rank up the links but with the overall goal of catching a key you are chasing through the level. This adds more of a challenge and makes it a little harder to get that A rank because you have to navigate through the stage successfully completing links whilst trying to catch an enemy to finish the round.

Despite what all the reviews say, the cut scenes CAN be skipped - just not the first time. But then I don't know why anyone would want to skip them the first time anyway - surely you'd want to see them once. After that you select the stage and it starts just the same as it did in the Saturn version (plus there's an option to select it with the cutscenes too if you desire). The platforming sections etc are all extra stages - kind of like how you have different stars to collect for a single stage in Mario Galaxy - if you don't like these sections then just don't go back to them, just stick to the first score stages and it's just as the original NiGHTS was.

Finally, obviously, the graphics are much better. There's some really beautiful stages and lots of features are borrowed from the original. I also find the music to be much better - some of the best I've heard in a game for a long while.

I know I've gone on a bit but I love this game and wish other people also gave it a chance rather than writing it off because a couple of things are different. The basic game is still there but if you want to explore the NiGHTS world more then you have that option too. As a hardcore NiGHTS fan, I say the Wii version is the better version.

Well Madgear, I think you've convinced me. Unless my local stores start selling Klonoa (which they won't), NiGHTS will be my next purchase. I've never played a NiGHTS game before, but it looks quite interesting.
