I personally want it to be a sequel to Twilight princess(best zelda ever!)
I would love them to bring midna back and maybe expand on that whole relationship thing?? LOL
The ending of TP pissed me off though! I hate when they leave you hanging!
Something along those lines would be cool, with the same old classic zelda feel.

And I'm not going to write out my own story

I'd like a more-or-less plot-less 'four swords' kind of thing, top-down, with local and online mutiplayer for four Links to drop in and out at will.

If the next Zelda is a core one, then I'd like it to be more about destiny than a local boy done good. If it's 'alternative' like Awakening or Majora I would quite like the game to centre more around the fate of a particular race (like Gorons or Zoras) throughout the entire game, rather than being a prelude to a particular dungeon.

Zelda has a plot?

I'd like the game to either go the route of most RPGs with longer, better cutscenes and a significantly more developed story, or something more minimalistic like Shadow of the Colossus.

Nintendo's middle approach of having some small generic story that comes up every now and then for a minute or two just bores me and makes me wish it weren't there at all if they aren't going to develop it. The idea of someone reviving Ganon for him to steal Zelda and the Triforce is very, very tired. If that is to be the plot, I'd rather no cutscenes or dialog at all because we can really get the point from the opening screen like we did in the NES game. A focus on mood and atmosphere would be better.

I don't see Nintendo taking the opposite route, but a Zelda with voice acting, cutscenes, and a story that actually has twists, turns, character development, etc. would certainly be welcome, at least as an attempt.

I wouldn't mind seeing a LoZ offshoot game featuring one of the non-Hylian races as a main character. or heck, a four swords-type game with a party of different creatures/races instead of four Links. and for wi-fi multiplayer, everyone could pick and choose what their character would be before you set out to wreak havoc. :3

Four Swords with different playable characters and abilities...? Genius! When you apply for a job at Nintendo, I'll write you a recommendation letter if you'd like.

Give me a Zelda where I level up and aquire magic and abilities. I like this aspect and I wish it never went away. Give me a story where Link is summoned to a land outside of Hyrule.

You want a storyline, well here's a storyline.

Link and several other heroes from distant lands are called to a central location to stop a evil that has plauged this mysterious kingdom. A grand reward is going to be given to whomever suceeds in destroying this evil. You work independantly "against" the other heroes to try and become the true champion. However the plot twist is that it's actually the king who summoned all the heroes here that is responsible for the whole mess and really wishes to slay the heroic group in one fell swoop so that he can branch out to world domination. After finding out about the rouse, you must work with the other heroes to stop the mad king before it gets out of control.

I take it you really like Zelda II and Majora's Mask, then?

Personally, I love MM in all sorts of ways, not least of which because it broke from the damsel-in-distress pattern and gave us a genuinely frightening obstacle to overcome. I'd love to see more Zelda in that vein; slightly darker overtones, gallows humor, varied gameplay (the transformational masks were a flawed but good-intentioned concept) and unique storytelling mechanisms.

I'm not a fan of leveling up or turn-based combat and I don't particularly want voice acting in my precious Zelda game, but if they could reach into the same well of dark brilliance that produced Majora's Mask...but maybe reach a little DEEPER this time, we could end up with a true masterpiece.

Agreed: top marks to theblackdragon. Get in touch with Miyamoto post haste, E3 is less than two weeks away and I want an announcement!

Iwata is round my house right now, any more messages you want me to pass on to him?

I just finished Majora's Mask tonight, and I reckon that they should try something in a similar vein to this one. Dark, but still humorous. Different story, but still similar in atmosphere to Ocarina (Graphics, humour, etc.). But i would like the graphics to be a bit different- maybe a better quality of the graphics in MM and OoT have. It's hard to think of the best idea on the spot, but I'm sure that the people at Nintendo have some good ideas to show us.

I'm not sure he appreciated that, he's looking at me with that angry mask salesman face.

I loved learning spells in Zelda II. I don't understand why they did away with that. Experience points and leveling I think is generally a bad idea, but I have gotten used to it. I wouldn't mind seeing Zelda try it out again. Turn-based combat is out of the question though. Miyamoto hates that, and it wouldn't be fitting for Zelda anyway.

I can't really comment on the masks in MM because every time I tried to get into the game, I'd fall asleep while trying to figure out what to get out of the town.

I'd like to see the new game take a camera angle like Phantom Hourglass so that it is closer to an overhead game. Or maybe that just for the overworld, then switch to a more Zelda II style for dungeons and caves, but at bosses the camera swings around and the room opens up in full 3D like more recent console Zeldas. There. Every Zelda fan should be happy now.

I would love to see the next Zelda have voice acting. I think it will be a sequel to Twilight Princess. I would like to see a unique plot like Majora's Mask plot was.

@Adam-Magic spells were in Oot. I would like to see those spells again. Turn based combat will NOT work with the Zelda series.

I personally think that Zelda is amazing: the sense of exploration and discovery, a story that isn't as simple as it appears, it's easy-to-handle game play, the fact they DON'T use enhanced cut-scenes, but instead uses the game's engine, so that it seamlessly transitions into a scene without lifting you out of the game, the originality and willingness to try new things with each installment, and not just more of the same. And I think that Zelda has plenty of mood and atmosphere, the pinnacle being in Twilight Princess, when the Snake Guardian explains to Link about the origins of the Mask (brrrrrrrr), and Ocarina of Time had plenty of atmosphere as well, and don't even get me started on Majora's Mask. In my opinion, Zelda is brilliant.

Fixed.

However I think a new Zelda (after Spirit Tracks, of course) should perhaps look at Vaati again. Vaati was awesome.
Or maybe chronicle OoT Link's adventure from Termina back to Hyrule, since we're left thinking that he just disappeared from existence after Majora's Mask.

I'm secretly hoping for a WiiWare top-view-slick-2D Zelda, with the story going back to it's roots and fighting Ganon. Hey, I can dream can't I?

How about a good ole' fashion side scrolling Zelda? Well, I like the idea.
