as usual japan gets all the best stuff. their trailer has a longer runtime with some new stuff (around the 1:00 mark), including the resident evil 4 style camera: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xIS1mSxmS4
I can't believe they're going to release the game with this name. If they found a new name and improved the voice acting for the English version (isn't Sarah Michelle Gellar available?) then it could have been perfect.
So ends a saga older than time itself. The World's oldest and fiercest army has been led to victory, and a lost generation is delivered from its fear of extinction. As the sun sets over the field of conflict the dinosaurs disperse, hoping never to set foot in this place a...
another nice thing about the new trailer is how distinctly un-sucky the music is. i'll miss kenji yamamoto no matter what and i think the metroid sound is his alone, but after looking up some of the new composer's work i have to say he's pretty decent too. his music is extremely pleasant and ambient with a lot of choral type sounds, it stays in the background but it still has power and depth to it. if you watch the anime monster you can hear it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGwqvHiBmCo
i'd like to upload a version that's not chopped apart, but the copyright gestapo are all over this one.
It's safe to say, this is one game that is getting me all excited since Tatsunoku vs Capcom was announced. This looks amazing and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Good Job Nintendo and Team Ninja. Now bring DOA to wii haha =P

Does anybody understand how you're supposed to actually control samus in this game? I just can't wrap my brain around it. It seems like there's a lot of scenes where you're controlling her in a 3-D space...but the game clearly only uses the Wii Remote. I don't get it, but it looks mind-blowing. Especially that uncut japanese trailer

I have been playing the Prime games for 5 years now and I got Metroid Fusion a few years ago and that made me love Metroid. I cannot wait to see the final product. I am more hyped over this than any other of Nintendo's releases last year and this year combined.

Err... You simply hold the Wii remote on the side. Use the D-pad to move Samus around, press 2 to shoot and 1 to jump (I'm guessing). It ain't rocket science . Then point the Wiimote at the screen for a first person perspective & have a good old look around while pressing A to shoot (I'm guessing) then point the Wiimote away from the screen to return to third person perspective...
kid a, you have the ability to move in full 3d with a fixed "2d" camera, meaning that if you press left or right you'll move across the screen like an old sidescroller, but the difference is that if you press up or down you'll also move in those directions, up taking you away from the camera and into the background, down taking you toward the camera into the foreground. so even though you'll primarily be moving left to right, you can still move toward and away from the camera to run around enemies (whereas in a traditional 2D game you'd simply run into them), or take alternate paths. you can see samus curl up into a ball and roll into a broken spot in a pane of glass in the background during that video; you would press up on the controller to move into the background like that. does that help?
i don't know why the control scheme is confusing people so much. there's nothing more familiar or simple than NES controls, and i'm sure we've all pointed the remote at the screen to aim a thousand times by now. just put the two together and you've got it.
3rd person gives you the agility and speed of super metroid and, when you need it, 1st person gives you the precise aiming and ease of looking around from the prime games. by switching between them you get keep the best of both worlds; that's the point.
