There's a new version of the internet channel and now it's completely free!!!!!
Everyone who already bought it gets a free VC game I heard.
The update includes a new flash player.
It also takes 218 blocks instead of 254.

This is for European Wii owners, I don't now if it's also available for American Wii's

First off; how do we know you're lying... before some of us jump to conclusions & try redownloading/updating our Wii's by going into the Wii Shop Channel?!

Note: what I BOLDED should be enough for anyone who's reading this; to make some sense out of it!

So I want to hear some sources; like try posting a link if it's real or not!

Go to the European Wii Shop Channel and go to the Internet Channel download page.
There are also a few people who received a message through the Wii Message Board.

I just read it too on a Dutch site (http://www.gamed.nl/view/65153). Wikipedia also tells about an update with a better Flash player on the first of September. You get 500 points for a NES game in October if you bought it. I'm really happy about this. I have my eyes on Kid Icarus for a while now, but I'm saving points for LiT.

Just downloaded it. I´m glad I never paid for it and if I had, I sure would be happy getting my Wii Points back, maybe it works better in 480p instead of 480i.
If it´s true... then, Kudos to Nintendo for returning the 500 points to people who paid for it.

You don´t get the points back? Only an option to download a NES game?? If so... that´s pretty lame.

I have to use the Internet Channel at nights since I can only use the family's main computer during the day. I've been becoming increasingly frustrated with it lately - it not wanting to play videos it used to be able to play and worse, logging me out of forums every few minutes at random (sometimes I could get away with staying logged on for a while if I was lucky) and sometimes refusing or taking a long time to download web pages especially those with images on.

If this new update fixes all that then I'll be quite happy. The refund of the 500 points is an unexpected but welcome bonus.

After checking out the list of NES games, I think I may go with Castlevania III unless some other NES game I would prefer more gets released in the meantime.

No, there's no refund! Only "a special VC offer" - the 500 points NES-games.

Well yeah. Its a refund in the form of a NES game. Thats what I meant but I see how I didn't make that clear enough.

Can you pick any NES game or are you presented a list with Nintendo titles?

I am assuming you can pick any 500 point NES game you want. It wouldn't be fair if you could only pick from Nintendo published NES games.

back on topic.... I was about to put Mario Kart back in its case with my Wii turned off when I got the message
I was just about to press the eject button and then the blue light came on BEFORE I pressed it
..... I thought I was going mad

but yeah, Nintendo really didn't have to do that and however the refund is done any refund is pretty cool

on the internet channel itself..... I am not sure if its improved or not but it definitely seems to be smaller
the only thing I noticed is that the text isn't as clear as it used to be or at least how I remember it being
and it does appear to load a little bit faster when I tested out the Red Steel 2 page via the Nintendo Channel
the trailer on the site still doesn't seem to play (last time I tried it complained about being an old version of flash)
so again.... hmm... I don't know

I'll have to check this out when I get home. Not sure what NES game I could possibly want; I already got Balloon Fight...I think I'll go for Ice Climber -- seems all the rage in Japan!

No fair, Americans get even less then Europeans in the downloadable section. Somebody confirm this in America so I can get excited.

No you have to make sure you have 218 open blocks, then download it and the old one gets deleted after the download.
So in the end you should have 36 more free blocks then before.
