So it's official, it'll be available on the 360 and PS3 as a "free" download with NBA Elite 2011. It's also announced that those HD versions will have online play... which is STILL unconfirmed for the Wii. :/
Anyone else worried that EA's going to skimp out on us Wii owners and not bother implementing online multiplayer? I'll be extremely pissed if they do, considering how they were building this up to be an awesome Wii exclusive experience. :/
From what I read, the downloadable version they are offering for the Xbox 360 and PS3 will have everything the Wii game has except for one game mode that remains Wii exclusive(for now at least). I was looking to pick this game up for my Wii on day one but now I'm not so sure. I'll probably wait and see just what EA has up it's sleeve.
Don't worry guys though! They have two guys working on the online for the Wii!

I don't mind the fact the game is no longer a Wii exclusive - I couldn't care less who gets to play it. However the fact it's free on XBox and PS3 and we'll no doubt have to pay £30 for it - that's something that's pissing me off.
@madgear Well, it's free if you want NBA Elite 2011, which a lot of people who want NBA Jam probably don't. However, if online is not included in the Wii version, then I certainly hope EA won't complain if the Wii version doesn't sell well.

It doesn't look like EA is planning on selling this game as a stand-alone game on the 360/PS3. The only way that you can get it is when you purchase NBA Elite 11. Here is the article with all the details: http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/03/nba-jam-download-included-w...
The point is that two people is really insignificant when other games have entire teams dedicated to the online.

The way it reads, they only get basic tournament and multiplayer games and online multiplayer, so no Remix Tour, no Boss Battles, maybe fewer or no cheats and secret characters, and no other special modes from the Wii version. For once, the HD consoles are getting the stripped down version of a game, especially if the Wii version also gets online play!
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

The keyword there is "if". And honestly, I really don't care about those modes. People who want to play Jam want to play Jam, and online is just as big a feature - if not bigger - than those other modes the HD version's not getting. Yeah they're cool, but I doubt anyone would sink 20-50 hours into fighting bosses in a basketball game.
@BulbasaurusRex Yes, but they're getting it free with a purchase of NBA Elite 2011. I know, a lot of people who want NBA Jam for its arcade experience might never have wanted NBA Elite for its realistic sports experience. Although, if the Wii version gets online play, I'd be willing to forgive them.

There's also the fact that the missing modes from the HD version will likely come as DLC later.

This is the type of game that should be an Arcade or WiiWare download. I don't think it's going to be worth $50-$60, but I'd be more likely to get it if it was a $10-$15 download. Then again, I'm not a basketball fan and if I want to play Jam (which even as a non fan, I found amazingly fun), I can pop in the SNES or Gen versions and not miss a thing by not having the new players.
I know I was soo hype for this game when I thought it was wiiware.dd Online Vs./Co-op/Tourneys,(ability to set up tourneys), Create A Player/Team, Trades, GCN/Classic Controller Support, and more crazy stuff like hotspots, stages, mascots and then it'll be worth the $50. It just seem like another case of people letting nostalgia get the better of them.
Maybe I'm just showing my age but to me online play is a bonus not a must.
Foget that. the other version have it ,they get it free w/annother games, they're charging you full price, who to say the extra content we have wont become dlc for the hd guys. If it was a downlode w/online 10-15 modes and tourneys I wouldn't complain.
