Anyways, I doubt it's just you. The Wii may have sold the most this generation, but that hardly makes it the best. I felt like this generation of gaming was incredibly boring when I only had a Wii, but when I bought a PS3 I totally flipped my thoughts around. I've had some of the most fun with video games I've ever had this console generation now.

I think the bottom line is, try something new. Branch out. At the worst you'll re-affirm that Nintendo is the only one to stick by. And there's a really good chance you'll find some amazing experiences on a new system.

I said it to be obnoxious. Obviously it's silly to pigeonhole yourself into one brand. I love the Wii, but you're missing out on some great stuff if it's the only console you own.

all very true, thanks for the reassurance guys. I know, I don't care about the brand thing. it just feels little odd switching since I've always found enough in my Nintendo to satisfy.
Thing is I have a nice TV setup but not TONs of disposable income and not lots of time to play, so I can't exactly justify just dropping 300 on a new system immediately, it's still a big purchase for me. I'll probably do it anyway, once I catch up with work first.
Part of what made me think is I had to ride back to Chicago from DC recently in a fancy rental van (about 15 hours drive from a film shoot) and it had a flat screen with, I think "left 4 Dead" on it, and I played it for like at least 10 hours with a lot of coffee alone, and I WASN"T TIRED OF IT. It wasn't even that great of a game but it looked so cool; It left me kind of like: "whoops, why have I not been playing HD stuff all this time?".
Well, maybe because of nights like that; I'm not 14 anymore. But still, once in a while that stuff is way fun. Anyway, yeah, I still love my Wii, and I don't REALLY have that much of a problem getting another system. I think I just feel a little in denial that I'm that much of a "gamer" that I need to have 2 newish consoles at once. weird. It'd be nice if Nintendo could just get with HD sooner and then I'd have my cake and eat it too. I mean, once they do, I'll just sell all that stuff anyway, since I won't need ALL of them. A year or two is too long to wait though, so I'll just do it.
Yeah, I'm not interested in a PS3 at all, and yes the move is totally silly. XBOX seems to have enough cross over to get the good stuff, and from what I hear all the online is so great. Even stuff like Bionic commando getting no Nintendo love? How weird is that? Times sure have changed.

You're always going to be missing out on everything. Can't buy every console, every handheld, every game. Just pick something and play it. If your friend has something, and you want to play it as well go play it at his house or buy it. I don't mean to offend or anything but the more I come here the more I think how obsessive everyone is. I kind of wished I never learned any of the technical side of games.

Edit: I had a lot more to say but I re framed myself from it. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all.

I know what you were getting at Kaiser and I do agree despite my gripes, it's really only because this venue exists for whining. The reason I pose this is just that: I don't think it's neccessary to own many consoles and I don't actually have time to play much so I feel pretty silly even wanting more than a Wii can offer, but when you see pictures of it, it sure looks like fun, so I might give it a try when I have the extra money.

You're about four years late, buddy.

As for the other games on the systems that are capable of a bajillion polygons (I know that's not even close to the real poly-count, shut up), they're either a first-person shooter or involve a plot about neo-human-aliens going back in time to alter history by murdering a bunch of dudes. In shorter terms, they are games about non-stop killing. I prefer to at least overcome a tricky platforming sequence or solve a puzzle before I fill my quota of blood drained from my enemies. Also, dual-analog controls for FPSs suck. I will stand by that last statement until the end of time.

I can kind of see where one might start to lose faith right now in Nintendo but be strong brother! June is right around the corner! A handfull of great 3DS games are coming out (including Zelda!), the eShop will be out on the 6th and Nintendo is sure to impress at their e3 press conference! The good times are almost here! As far as the console loyalty is concerned, I am very loyal to my Nintendo consoles and will be until the day I die. That isn't to say I refuse to play any Xbox/PS game, its just....virtually none of them interest me. Although I have been known to dabble in a spot of PSP gaming from time to time, I will always be a Nintendo loyalist. If Nintendo ever went out of business, I simply wouldn't be a gamer anyomore.

I am trying to branch out into other consoles for the first time. I have been playing videogames since 2002 and played almost entirely Nintendo games on all their systems. I have had the most fun with my Wii than any other console, and I have played most of the Wii's AAA titles like Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and many others(beating many of them 4 or 5 times while waiting for new games). The longer I wait for the next great Wii game the more I notice PS3 games like Uncharted 2, God of War 3, and Mass Effect 2. I think its time to take a short break from Nintendo. (at least for a year or two)

Why take a break for a year or two? Just play the games you want to play on whatever console you decide to play them on.

This is always a tough time, being at the last run of a Nintendo console's cycle. I remember with the GameCube it was totally dead long before the Wii came out, after RE4 I'd say. Just play whatever you want to play, don't limit yourself for the sake of Nintendo, heck I'm sure even Nintendo themselves wouldn't expect you to do that. I've started to play a little bit of PC and Xbox 360 here and there just for something to play. After E3 things will begin to alleviate I think.

As for the 3DS launch though, that's enough to waiver my faith a bit too. The Nintendo 3DS launch was inexcusably poorly handled, it's definitely something I wont forget down the road when it comes to buying another one of their products. If 3DS doesn't get quality games and services/features soon, nobody will care to buy it or even look into it. Time will tell I suppose.

Look, don't complain about the 3DS as it is now. Awesome games will come eventually, along with the eShop. If you want to blame Nintendo for something, blame them for rushing the 3DS out before they could finish the eShop or finish a killer game to launch with the 3DS.

And when you look at games for other systems, just remember: the grass is always greener on the other side. If you really feel you want these kinds of games, go get another console, but please, PLEASE don't forget your love for Nintendo!

I'm pretty okay.

To me, I'm just fine with how Nintendo is doing. Sure I'm dissapointed that there are no great games coming out (E3 will change that. Im certain a Skyward Sword release date will be announced), but I know that I'm happy with all of the games that I own already. I don't care that much about games with stunning graphics that much. More often than nought, those games just look great with subpar gameplay (FPS games). I'm not saying all HD games are like that, but its the current trend of the gaming industry. Have better graphics over gameplay.

As for Nintendo, sure they don't have the best graphics, but whenever I dive into a enw Nintendo game, I know that I'm going to get something different. I know that I'm going to get an excitng game that is amazing in quality. I read Game Informer, and even though they don't cover Nintendo games that much, when they do, the reviews are glowing. Maybe not for the 3DS, (lord knows why Nintendo didn't have a strong launch), but by the holiday it'll be the system to own with zelda, star fox, icarus, and mario coming before the year is over. I can understand why you would lose faith in Nintendo, but whether you want to appreciate what you have, what will come, or what was is all up to you

Meh, I realize that there's no way a company, especially the great Nintendo, could constantly whip out amazing games/hardware every year and since I've gotten all hardcore with gaming again, while waiting for more awesomeness to appear, look back to see what I missed and experience it (mostly on the Wii but I'm looking at some 360 games).
