"First Person Adventure" with Zelda like re-traversal, it's unique in what it does. I can't wait for the trilogy but yes would much prefer a sequel, but like Adam said, we've known for a while it won't be happening.

I hope Retro have got something new up there sleeves, with the polish and atmos' of Prime. Is it E3 yet?
As for what Ninty will do with Samus I don't know. Special guest driver in F-Zero Wii! Oh please!

Whatever heappened to Metroid Dread? Does anyone know?

I hope Retro is working on something original rather than trying to bring Kid Icarus or whatever to 3D. They are a promising developer, but the Prime series has only gotten worse with each entry, and farther from its Metroid roots. I'd rather see them unlimited by the associations we have for a franchise designed for two dimensions.

Is this worth trading all 3 metroid prime games for metroid prime trilogy?

Trade them now if you are gonna, and get a credit note. DO NOT wait, as there trade-in prices will plummet in the next week or two.

Nintendo isn't our friend.

If YOU were the leader of Nintendo, and you had to make the best business decisions of what would make the most money, would you hire a full development team to make a proper sequel to Metroid?

Or would you look into the back catalog of Nintendo, find a game that hasn't been Wii-hashed yet, and hire a smaller team to remake it?

Which method would make you the most money?

I don't doubt something like Super Mario Sunshine would sell millions if it was Wii-made. All they have to do is add waggle, and you have something that takes very little resources to make, and that will make millions for Nintendo. If you were the President of Nintendo and knew you could make money going this route, why would you spend money on a full development team? This is Business Economics, and they clearly know what they're doing. But people seem to love remakes, so more power to the people I guess?

Are they going to release Prime 4 though?

Why people keep asking this is beyond me. MP3 was the end of the Prime series; no ifs or buts about it. In addition, Nintendo has already said that another Metroid wasn't forthcoming in the near future, although I wouldn't mind another 2D installment.

Anyway, I'm very much interested in replaying the first two with MP3's control scheme. I'll be trading in my copy of MP3 ASAP.

Yes, give me a 2D design and I'll buy it. As for purchasing the trilogy........yawn......

Because motion control in Sunshine would make it so much better...
It'd sell well, but with only motion control very few people who owned it would rebuy it, not only will the motion control enhance the first two Primes, you're getting all three games.

Scrapped in favor of Prime series.

It is clear that Retro is doing something because they have increased their manpower.

Sometimes you really have to hate the internet.

First of all, it's known for quite some time now, that Retro Studios is working on a new game, which is not related to Metroid. We probably get to know more about it on the upcoming E3. The Metroid Prime Trilogy was just a little side project. It's not like the Zelda team stopped working on new big projects because of they made "Link's Crossbow Training".

Second of all, the Metroid Prime games were supposed to be a trilogy. A fourth game never was planned. If there's going to be a new Metroid game, it certainly will not have "Prime" in its title. Maybe it will be called "Metroid Dread", but certainly not "Metroid Prime 4". The Phazon storyline is finished once and for all.

Third of all, there's nothing wrong with rereleasing old titles, especially if it's as cheap as the Metroid Prime Trilogy. And you may want to consider, that angry Nintendo nerds on internet forums are NOT Nintendo's only customers. There are a lot of people, who didn't have a GameCube, never played a lot of good old GameCube games and now like to do this with some shiny new play controls. And the Metroid Prime Trilogy is meant for those people. If you already have all three Metroid Prime games, good for you, no one says you have to buy this.

Fourth of all, no one said, that there won't be any future Metroid titles because of the Metroid Prime Trilogy. You don't know this. Maybe a new 2D Metroid will be announced on the E3. You're like those angry Zelda fans, who totally got pissed, because they thought, there won't be a Wii Zelda now because of "Spirit Tracks", instead of realizing, that Nintendo actually has two Zelda teams working on different projects and one of them is "Zelda Wii". However, even if there won't be any new Metroid games in the future, you still can be happy, that Nintendo releases at least something for the Metroid fans instead of ignoring the Metroid franchise completely. Even if it's just rereleases with new controls, that's better than nothing.

I'm glad we're going to be able to play all three games (with updates and multiplayer) in one disc. And do you guys realize the amount of work it takes to create a game of that size? Prime 3 optimized the trilogy to the max. If they made a new MP, pretty much all that could be added is new maps - which would be pointless.

I'm excited to see what new games Retro will be working on. Who knows? Maybe they'll give us a new Star Fox, F-Zero, or even Kid Icarus.

And good gosh, stop whining for new games. Nintendo gave us two new and incredibly fun games this month, and you still won't be content. E3 is just a week away. MotionPlus is just around the corner. Be. Patient.

Erm, they certainly could do much more than "new maps" if they wanted, though they clearly don't. Multiplayer would be great since MP2's is good but has too much unrealized potential. A better story would certainly be nice. A return to Prime 1's style of exploration would be welcome. Some new game mechanics could make it interesting. The hyper mode or whatever it was called in 3 was pretty lame. Being able to play as other characters would be very cool. There is so much that can be improved -- or at least varied -- in the design. Why would you think the only possible improvements for games are in the technical optimization and map layouts...?

A Prime 4 could be significantly different and potentially better if they tried, though clearly they aren't going to.

Obviously there are "new" things they can do - but the core Prime gameplay is more or less completely fleshed out. Prime 3 optimized the controls, graphics, and gameplay, and I don't think a sequel would be all that beneficial to the franchise. The triology ended with a bang, so why take the risk of making a new one when there are so many other things that the studio could make?

Sequels to popular franchises are almost never risky. You can bet that it'll sell at least decently if it has the word "Metroid" in the title. And if graphics and controls are already as perfect as you think, then that makes producing the game all the cheaper since they can build off of that foundation, like they did for MP2.

There are a lot of improvements they could make for Prime 3 if you ignore graphics and controls. It's the game design that matters most, and it's certainly flawed.

But as I already said, I'd rather see them do something original, too. While they could improve the Prime series significantly, I don't think they would, given their track record with it.

Quoted for truth.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption's game design was anything but flawed. It's certainly one of the best Wii games to date.
