Who else is looking forward to this game? I've just spent the last half hour reading previews and watching any video footage I could find of it and it just looks great. Thing is I've never played a Monster Hunter title before so how does it play? I mean can it be fully enjoyed offline as a single player or does it really need to be played online? I'm not a big fan of online gaming but I think this game could be the one to get me into it. In previous games were there varied missions and locations? Is there a usually a lot of towns to visit and NPC's to interact with or does the majority of gameplay revolve around mainly hunting monsters (thats proably a daft question.....but I'll leave it in Any views would be appreciated.

Monster Hunter is basically a hack-and-slash game with some RPG elements thrown in - weapon and armour crafting, a huge range of items and skills to learn and loads of different quests to do. There's no EXP to gain - it's all about your skill as a hunter and the weapons and armour you have. It's a really fascinating game with bucketloads of depth to it.

From what I've played of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (the latest release here) you can play it perfectly well on your own, but most of the fun is teaming up with different styles of players to take down the really huge enemies. It's great to play with people who really know what they're doing, and hopefully there'll be some sort of chat feature in MH3.

There's no real story to MHFU - you wake up in a mountain town and that acts as your base for all future events. There are no other towns, and the only travelling you do is between different areas for quests. I'm led to believe that MH3 will have a wider village area that will change as you progress through the game, though I'm not sure how this would work.

In previous games there haven't been any NPC hunters, although MHFU has Felyne helpers who can be trained up in certain areas. I doubt there'll be NPCs in MH3, as you're more likely to have questing partners due to the online play.

I really want this game despite the hack and slashieness of it, which I usually don't like. But it looks sooo beautiful and seems to do the Wii a bit of justice. Plus you can hunt online in a pack of monster hungry warrior dudes. SOLD!

And I want that black Wii bundle like no console before!

Rawr!

Oh me too. That thing is f****N sweet. Do you think that bundle will come to europe? I can't see it myself but I reckon it would fly off the shelves and give this game some great promotion. The thing thats put me off a little is the hank n' slash nature but as long as its deep with lots of new moves to learn etc, I'll be a happy man, the weapon system looks good though as do those gorgeous visuals. I could wander round those all day.

Is the game going to require a subscription fee in NA? If so I might just go for Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga instead.

Hey, will you guys be doing an import review for this? I'm considering importing the black wii bundle (if I can find one!) but I wanna know if the game is worth it or whether I can wait a looooonnng time for a UK release if it's mearly above average.
Thanks

Just found the bundle for £274 or $449 online. I'm so tempted to pre-order it and sell my X-box 360 for it. What should I do??

Does the Japanese version require it? I didn't know there were any Wii games that require subscription fees for online play.

Also, is this game confirmed for other regions? Some people talk as if it's assumed, but I haven't found confirmation of it. Not that I've looked very hard.

Come on, friends,
