OK I see what you mean now. I fought with some randoms last night and they were most rude. I was chatting away, being nice, trying to engage them...... silence! Then, when the quest begins the frakkers steal all the items from the box and continue to fight in silence. Untitled

Fortunately, I bumped into Dazran and co. after that and had an excellent time fighting and gassing at one another. I guess you just need to gather lots of 'friends' and stick with them. Randoms can f....

You really think MH3 players are boring?

Yeah, some people are total jerks though. THE MAN was dumped by the three others in his team in the middle of a Rathian fight. The Expert servers seem to be full of AFKers, silent people and elitists. I much prefer Open and Recruiting (though Expert is the best way to reliably find HR 30+ teams, hmm).

But like I said, about 80% of the time I've had great teams.

Brilliant!

My only rituals are punching the air occasionally or 'ranting' on a monster, which makes it look like you are stamping upon their bloody corpse. mmmmmm. My favourite pastime though is kicking-back, or falling asleep on the bench in the Tavern.

Talking while fighting a monster gets you killed.

Well, thats not true. In fact yesterday I was actually BBQing while an Agnaktor was raging around me. Jumping and thrashing in every direction and I still got a Well-Done. Was it risky? Yes, very. Was it hilarious when I actually pulled it off? Oh Yeah!

@JayArr: Smooth dude, SMOOTH!

Chatting mid-fight is just as hazardous as carving a tail when the beasty is on top of you. So long as you have the health and potions to back up such madness, it's cool!

if you do not have a keyboard, then yes, you are considered boring. It's sad but true. Though if you have a keyboard that doesn't automatically make you fun. During on-line gaming, like real life, you are going to come across all types of people. Some people are rude and some people are funny. It hit or miss really.

Just add the people you like playing with to your friend list and those you had bad experiences with to your block list.

I try to make up for my lack of -in-game talkie by showering my team mates with recov shells.

Seems like a fair trade to me.

See ,I knew Mr Badger had no keyboard so was not offended. I understood. All I want from randoms is a quick "nkb, soz" and I'd be fine.

Oh for sure. Hunting skills make up for lack a keyboard skills anyday.

That's just basic good manners.

Or maybe they could set their online status to "No Keyboard". That does wonders, but not all of them do it. :/

@JayArr LOL I tend to BBQ after the monster's been hunted. Also @Amorous Badger if you want to keep using Recov S, I suggest bringing along Huskberries and Herbs so you can combine them on the fly. (Use Speed Combos in the menu.) That way you can have 22 Recov S in your item pack.

Ooh good call.

And I've had my status set to 'no keyboard' since day one online, I'm such a polite online gamer, does it show that I'm new to this sort of thing?

I'm not really bothered about people not talking to me online but you know what really irritates?

You come into a room, sign up to a quest, go to the items chest to get yerself the correct ammo for the beast in question look up and.....everybody's already gone.
Without you.
Although, amusingly enough last time that happened to me they were all back within two minutes.

weirdly i have alot more fun and people do talk

i keep being blocked ?

dean

not a new monster hunter player, a veteran in fact and big fan of the franchise. but new to it on the wii, dont know if that counts as experienced or not lol- i got a wii speak and all the jazz associated with the ultimate monster hunter tri pack, havent got a mic. Do i need one to use wii speak and talk to people coz in online options it does ask if you want mic on of off, had some good online runs but find typing a royal pain in the arse

@dean Wii Speak only works with people you've added to your Wii Speak friends list. It sucks. I'd rather have 10 people in a city like the JP version than broken Wii Speak functionality.

10-person city patch please, Capcom? (Not gonna happen but I can dream!) Then quest passwords would actually make sense. And it would be much easier to join specific rooms in Recruitment. And it would be awesome to have 9 other people to chat with in the city. And multiple quests going on at once, so the Quest Board actually makes sense.

HolyMackerel

Machu

What? You can have ten people in a city in the JP version? And they cut it to four to allow for Wii-Speak support? Please tell me that isn't so.

The Tavern makes much more sense with the JP version then. I wondered why each city was limited to four, when the quest board and multiple benches were there. Grrrr!

@Machu Yeah, I heard it was 10. I know for sure it's more than 4. PATCH NAO

Gosh, that really sucks! I too hope they fix it, and sooooon!

It makes me depressed thinking about a hustling and buslting city and tavern......only cause we are stuck with a four player ghost town. I could be lurking all those guest houses!

Machu

HaHa! I look forward to perusing other peoples houses and seeing what wares they have. I have a tusk. that's it! But yeah, I've hardly been online, single player is taking longer than expected.

Back on topic... last night I was very rude. Status - Invisible. City Setting - Playing Solo. I was doing all the lame 2* missions and couldn't be bothered with people slowing me down. Also, I was in bed. Keyboard + Bed = No!
