Nice read. Anyway, I enjoyed this game and don't get the "Metroid fan" hate for this game but then I don't care enough to try and understand it.

The gameplay was fun, not ALL the voice acting was bad, and I actually liked a couple of the characters. The story was just incompatible with the rest of the series. If they had changed that, it would have been a great game.

Websites love it when people create threads begging for traffic to another site.

Interesting video, though. Now I want to go back and finish the Prime games.

Worst part is that website has an active thread over on PushSquare, and maybe I don't visit PSq enough, but I feel like their forums have been seeing less traffic than usual ever since that thread popped up...

This guy is giving me a real Plinkett vibe.

I couldn't quite tell, did he like the throwbacks to previous games or not?

He thought they were poorly handled and given too much focus over new content.

Funny you mentioned that (to me anyway), though I have played and greatly enjoyed Corruption, I never got around to the first two until recently where I have been playing Prime on Trilogy. Incredible game.

I haven't heard of original Metroid fans hating the Metroid Other M beside the "Metroid" fans that enter into the Metroid world through Metroid Prime Trilogy. Almost all of my friends never even play Metroid, Super Metroid, Metroid Zero Mission, Metroid Fusion, or even Metroid 2 and still hating on Metroid Other M. One of my friend and I admit that Metroid Other M is similar to some of original Metroid games in 3D plus "Prime" feature. Super Metroid intro have almost exact same dialogue writing as in Metroid Other M. Even some of these NL in this forum users noticed that Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission have almost exact same dialogue. Yes it does make sense to me that is it the same writer that wrote the stories and its make sense to me now.

I think the most of the hate are coming from Metroid Prime fans rather than Metroid fans themselves. I could say the same for Resident Evil series as well. After all majority of Resident Evil fans enter the Resident Evil world through Resident Evil 4.

No really, everyone needs to watch that video and the follow-up video that dude made for it. He makes a really strong argument, it's very enlightening.

Just doing my job!

But seriously, I don't know why you get away with spamming your blogs when every other site out there wouldn't stand for it, but unless you have some advertising deal, you're doing nothing but hurting PushSquare with your little thread there.

That's just my thoughts on the matter, though. The mods there seem willing to put up with it. Just keep counting your lucky stars...

Good game.

Horrible Metroid game.

^ This!

There was no sense of exploration or discovery in the game. And those "Where's Waldo" scenes where you had to find some obsure object in FPS mode to proceed. why?

The only thing I remember from Other M that I did enjoy was speed boosting in 3rd person view from behind.

Fully agreed! The Speed Boster (and by extension, Shinespark) was the one thing that was a lot of fun! And while there weren't too many places to use it, it felt right most of the time!

Though I never completed Other M, I enjoyed it much more than the Prime Series (never finished any of those either, but played Other M much further than the Prime games.). I'm an old school gamer (PONG was my 1st video game) and prefer 2D side scrollers when it comes to Metroid games.

If that's what you think, you're most likely missing the point of why Other M is bad. I played every Metroid game so far, and even Metroid 2 on GameBoy felt more like a Metroid game than this. That has nothing to do with Prime itself - it's bad even without comparison.
Also, many (and I mean, MANY) Super Metroid fans hated Other M as well for disregarding Samus' countless battles.

Just watch the video above which @bezerker99. Gaming Brit knows exactly what is wrong with Other M. And don't complain about NSFW, just listen.

As far as gameplay goes, I consider it perhaps the best in the series. Yes, for real.

But dat characterization. Blegh. It's not about being flawed. Christian Bale's Batman is flawed. Daniel Craig's James Bond is flawed. Luke Skywalker is flawed. Samus in Other M is just plain weak.

As I've said in other threads, I would love for the next Metroid game to continue in the direction of Other M in terms of gameplay, but it needs to return to roots it terms of atmosphere and minimalistic storytelling.

All I can say is that I loved the controls for the game. Turning the Wii Remote and switching to FPS was like magic, and was the first and only use of this novelty.
