Topic: Metal Gear Solid Wii!?

So it just dawned on me today that there has been no inkling of the MG/S series coming to Wii in any capacity. We had a remake of the first MGS on GC last-gen (by the way, it's amazing), and we've had Solid Snake himself as a fighter in Brawl...

But where is a new title? Even a MGS2 or 3 Wii-make would be worth the bucks to me! And where is the Metal Gear series on VC?!? Konami needs to step to it.

yeah, this is one of the things I most want to see. Metal Gear 1/2 on VC would be a great way to launch MSX imports in the NAVC. I'd love an MGS trilogy Wiimake for Wii; and that'd be a big help for getting me weened off PS2 too, but I doubt Konami thinks it's worth it. It'd be better for them to port it to PS3, probably.

Objection

I loved MGS2 and am starting MGS3...I'd love to see the series on the Wii in any form.

@feba

Why port games to a system that (mostly) already has the capability to play the past titles through back-compat?

If you haven't played it, I suggest trying to find a used copy of Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes for GCN. It's MGS on the MGS2/3 engine! And right now, it's the closest thing you'll get to a MGS Wii game for now.

I'm really surprised there hasn't be a release of the originals for MSX (or really anything much at all for MSX -- one game with one listed as "coming soon?" -- what's the point?) and I do recall enjoying the Playstation game with all the emphasis on sneaking about. The challenge mode was excellent, though it could get pretty damn difficult!

Isn't there a teaser site for the developer's next game? I believe there was a "5" silhouetted and a countdown meter, with thunder and lightning. The last Metal Gear was #4, so perhaps a sequel (or prequel) for all consoles is in the works?

It's looks to be a Sony exclusive game. It's likely a prequel or something of that nature, because it involves Big Boss in some way.

@TwilightV

Remember when everyone said Metal Gear Solid was a Sony exclusive last-gen... and then XBox got MGS2: Substance and GCN got MGS:TS. It could happen. Konami is a THIRD party company after all.

I thought the MGS creator said something about making a Wii game too...

@Thread:
1- The PS3 mostly does NOT have backwards compatibility with those games anymore. A port would also allow them to build back in things that were removed from the essential collection, and put everything on a single (blu-ray disk), as well as things like improving load times and graphics etc.
2- I'm %90 certain that Twin Snakes doesn't use the MGS2 engine, and from what I've read MGS2 and 3 do not even share an engine (MGS3's engine was made from the ground up to suit the outdoor environment). In any case, Twin Snakes looks FAR worse than MGS2/3, although it does take some gameplay enhancements from them I honestly think the PSX game looks better.
3- Metal Gear has a long history with Nintendo. Metal Gear was of course ported to the NES (although Kojima hated the result of the port), and non-canonical spinoffs (Snake's Revenge, Ghost Babel, and parts of Twin Snakes) have constantly appeared.
4- Kojima obviously likes Nintendo-- he wanted Snake in Melee, and got him into Brawl. Iirc, Twin Snakes was mostly brought about by a chance discussion with a Nintendo dev.
5- MGS3 and 4 are the only ones that haven't been ported to other platforms. Metal Gear had tons of ports, MG2 was released on PS2 (obviously a little late, but still), MGS got a Windows port, MGS2 got Windows and Xbox ports.
6- Considering the last three, it's not at all a stretch to imagine MGS on a non-Sony platform. Plus Sony seems to have given up on exclusivity with other games (FF13, GTA4), and MGS is smaller than they are (although still huge).
