What determines your ranking on Mario Kart when you play the Grand Prix races? I mean I know you can get one,two or three stars, but even if I get first on every race I don't always get two or three stars?

I think it's also affected by how much of the time you're in first place. You could get 1st place every time, but if barely in first before the final turn you may not do as well.
Ultimately, I feel it's an ingeniously simple average of multiple weighted factors that determines you're ranking. What those factors are and how they affect your ranking, that remains a mystery to almost everybody.
If anyone does know, don't reveal it. I prefer the stars to retain a sense of mystery. I'd be angry to know for certain at a particular point in the race that I've just done something to bar myself from stars.

If you only play online it hardly matters unless you REALLY want stars by your name, but yeah stay on the road, be in firstplace almost always, and attack other drivers, I think
