This is currently my favorite wii game so I wanted to make a thread so we can show it some love. You can talk about why you like it, favorite parts or characters and if you'd like to see a sequel.

It feels like a complete game, in the same sence you can call someone a "complete person". And there's an intangible about it too, it's hard to explain. For example, my girl actually ASKS me to play it because to her it's like she's watching a story. LKS is just a charming game. That's the best way I can say it.

From a gaming point, the game inproves as it goes on and you "aquire" more abilities. But I think it's best part is in the beginning, just as any great game should be. That's how it hooks you. I read on a review once that the reviewer was hooked once he got to the first festival with the citizens celebrating with the cow skull hats. I felt the same way. After that festival, it's like I actually cared about the citizens. Around that time I had a funeral one day, as one of my citizen's really died (If you played the game, you know what I mean by "really died" instead of just "died"). Seeing the "sadness" of the other citizens and the dressed in black. From that day, i made a big effort not to loose anybody. So the game wasn't just about winning but about keeping everyone alive.

THAT'S what a great game does... it makes you care about the caracters.

Sequel? No brainer for me, if it can capture the same magic.

Ditto. Definitely a smile-inducing moment to see the game celebrate your accomplishment. The action is fun, the dialog is funny, the art style is wonderful, the use of public domain music is a really nice touch, etc. -- but it was that first festival that really pushed this game over the top for me.

@Bigdog: Nicely put. You know I've still only beat the first boss and I bought this game at release. I really never play it, but I do plan to put it into my rota again and I love it. There's something about knowing it's there for me to play and stretching out the experience I find oddly comforting. Most games with endings I play seriously until I see it through, but I like letting this sit on the back burner, knowing there's something fun an unexplored waiting for me when I'm ready to dive in again.

For about 3 months I whored myself out for this game, desperate to spread the love and increase sales. Easily the best game I played last year, and definitely in my top ten best ever. <3

I need to return to Alpoko some time, but I don't wanna taint the memories I have of it. It can't really have been that good, surely? yeah it was dude, totally!!!

A great game, my favourite game of last year, and one of my favourite games of all time! Marvellous Entertainment indeed.

I've only started the game and played for a short time, but my quick impressions support with what others have already said: there is an undeniable charm about Little King's Story that makes you want to go back and play more, and a feeling that the game has much deeper meaning than what you see on the surface.

It's also worth mentioning that the game is very well polished, and has a great story. The introduction alone was totally engrossing (if you can get past the fact that it's a cartoon... apparently some people can't).

Little King's Story is great! It's easily in my top Wii games list and favorite games ever, and I usually don't get into RPGs, but I found this game to be amazing and, in my opinion, deserves game of 2009. I just beat king Duvroc and need to get back to this game soon.

I got that game last week and I haven't played anything else since. I'm 20 hrs in and defeated the second boss King Duvrok (playing on Hard). This game is amazing, I really don't need Pikmin 3 at the moment.
I'm off to play more of the Little King's Story now.

I think this game is absolutely awsome! I'm on my second play through and I've beaten all the kings already and I'm working side quests before I take to the sky to stop earthquakes. I could play It over and over, I love this game!

I've made the arcade but for some reason can't seem to find a way to make a Merchant. There appears to be 3 different houses that have the merchant symbol over them, but everytime I try to throw a citizen they just bounce off and never go in. What exactly am I doing wrong here?

That about sums it up for me. I might try to beat it in the summer, but I'm in no rush, it's just a fun game.

Really great game! I especially loved the diversity of the bossfights and the way each citizen lives it's own life. I've been thinking about replaying it as well, but I've got some other games to finish first.

I've easily played over 70 packaged Wii Games, and LKS is in my top 5. Loved it x3. I really hope it sold well, because a sequel would rock.

There's only one thing I don't like about LKS: you get attached to certain citizens, and so when you get them killed, it's bizarrely affecting. I've got a few old-timers who've been around since the start of my town, and I'm too afraid to take them into battle. It doesn't help that they're among my most powerful men.

Tactically it would be stupid to leave them behind, but personally I don't want to get them killed. It looks like I'm going to have to institute an unofficial retirement scheme in Alpoko.

HA! Chicken, you're killing me. I'm exactly the same way. I've certain persons who've been through two big boss battles so far with me. I lost one of them and was really sad when I saw his name scroll across the bottom of the screen. I reset and fought (Duvoc) again so that I wouldn't lose one of my favorite guys.

With a few upgrades, I've now got a couple of guys with +16 health! That helps bunches with some of the bigger bosses.

Now here's something funny that I did last night. I can currently command 23 men into battle. I spent 2 days fighting and treasure hunting (yes, I finally figures out where exactly to toss my guys into the merchant hut, ty SKTTR). At the end of the second day, I went to the church and threw all of my guys into the door. 2 came out married. So I did it again. 2 came out married. I did it AGAIN! 2 came out marrried! This was done repeatly until I only had 3 persons left to command. 20 persons got married that night and that night was full of baby making, which I found to be hilarious.

I'm on my way to defeat the Cafeteria Kingdom! Wish me luck.
