I've been considering getting it for months and finally took a chance. Are the Werehog stages really as horrible as I've heard? It was either this or Secret rings. Did I pick the lesser of two evils?

I haven't played Sonic unleashed yet but from what I've seen, it seems highly unlikely that its as bad as Sonic and the secret rings.

Yeah the werehog stages drag on for a long time and can be beaten with button-mashing for the most part. The day stages are fun to play tough.

The night time stages are acceptably mediocre until they start taking forever in the 2nd half of the game.

Yeah, but they're still a lot better than the 2nd half of Secret Rings. **shudder** Sonic just does not work on rails.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Well I played a bit and it's not too bad. I was getting annoyed with all the tutorial at the begining. I thought that chip character would never shut up. I can figure out basic controls. I don't need to be told every 3 seconds how to do things. The night stages are kinda boring but during the day it's fun. Especially when the camera switches to the side/classic view. For 20 bucks I guess it's not a total waste.

Maybe it's because I haven't really played it in years, aside from booting it up the mini-games, but I fondly remember Secret Rings. I thought it was one of the better Sonic games in terms of design (and I say this as someone who thoroughly played "games" like Sonic '06, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Riders). My only real annoyances were not being able to backtrack properly and some of those later missions. I'd actually recommend it if you enjoy this, as it tends to be pretty cheap.

As for Unleashed, I preferred the 360/PS3 version, but the Wii one is passable.

The weird thing is IGN gave the Wii version of unleashed a 7.2 score but the PS3 version scored about a 4.5
So many people say unleashed is better on the HD systems but not IGN for some reason. Are the two versions really that different?

Unleashed did better on the Wii overall. Just like GH5 is superior on Wii as are the Tiger Woods series. I heard the voice acting was awful and atrocious on PS3/360 with Unleashed. Also the motion controls on Wii were solid. I can't remember what else was wrong with the HD versions.

Xbox 360/PS3 version has better day stages. I also personally liked the werehog. At first, I liked it in the Wii. Coming back to it years later, I found the Wii night levels were actually horrible and tired out my arms. I then traded the Wii version in for the Xbox 360 version. I like the 360 version much better. I heard PS3 has a unsteady framerate. Also, the 360 version still gets patches. It's nice to see that Sega still supports their old game.

Honestly the Wii version is better. Other version forces you to spend more time around towns (which sucks by default) and the werehog stages mean if you get a game over, you have to start one gigantic level all over again instead of starting one medium sized level over. The final level has a cool idea but is one hour long and uses the same logic that you have to start all over again if you game over. Also, it has balancing platforming and just far more annoyances to the night time stages.

Honestly, outside of that one or two extra daytime stages, every single thing added to the next gen version completely sucks.

Riders and Shadow the Hedgehog, scratch that, ALL THREE had the potential to be the best Sonic games ever. If only SEGA hadn't f**ked it up. 06 was plagued with glitches, a beautiful start, great development, but a pitiful ending that seemed tacked on at the last minute. If only SONY and Microsoft had been more patient... As for Shadow, that game was just confusing with all the endings and horrible controls. The storyline had much potential, but most was wasted on excessive use of guns. And finally, Riders, the Sonic game with the most horrible controls...

They all had great potential, but ended up being what they are today. Seriously, if SEGA completely remade Sonic 06 by:

1. Giving it a name
2. Properly end the story
3. Fix those glitches
4. Get rid of Elise
then I would buy it.

I actually like the town part. That last level reminds of the classic Sonic games, in that it's hard (understatement of the year), and if you get a gameover, you start over.

There are much better ways to use a 20 dollar bill. Like lighting it on fire.

Actually more like 1/3 or 1/4 decent purchase, forgot there was actually more Werehog than not in the game. D:

Nobody's forcing you to play the Werehog stages with the Wiimote controls. The Wii version is also compatable with the traditional controllers.

Just out of curiosity what's the % of Daytime stages Vs Night?
Is it about even or is one featured more than the other?
