Topic: Input/controller lag

Hello. As I understand, my account and this thread got removed due to the backup failure, therefore I'm creating one again.

I am experiencing a problem since I bought Nintendo Wii. I am noticing an input lag of like one third of a second which is fatal in most games I play, especially DJ Hero. From my previous thread you said that my controller might be faulty but I don't have any way to check another Wiimote on my console or to check my controller on another Wii console. Someone also suggested using the calibration option in DJ Hero settings but that's not doing it either. Also my Wii is softmodded if that's important.
The controller I have is: http://www.miniinthebox.com/2-in-1-motionplus-remote-controll... (didn't buy it there). I would like to try everything before getting a new controller - also I'll try to connect the console to another TV sometime during this week.

Any ideas on solving this problem? Tried messing with console settings, Googling the problem but haven't found a solution for it.

Your controller is probably the issue here. Third party controllers work okay at the best of times.

DJ Hero should have an option that will let you adjust the input delay, so there isn't a noticeable difference.

Might want to check you tv settings. I know some TVs have different settings like movie, game, sports, display etc Try switching your TV to game if its not already, I know I get crazy lag if my TV isn't set to game. If that doesn't do it well then it might be the controller and if that's the case I would pick up an actual Nintendo Wiimote.

Tasuki, I tried to find such an option and I found it - but it gave no effect. I also manually turned off all of the picture enhancements which were enabled.
But now it doesn't matter - I got a CRT TV and connected the console to it. The lag has decreased significantly, now it's just like .10-.15 seconds.

I was thinking about connecting the console to my monitor using the VGA/D-Sub. What do you think about S-Video/SCART to D-Sub converters?

ditto the tv settings, found a lot of games unplayable without using the game mode on my one

One that is not going to add lag will cost as much as a perfect gaming monitor. Plus monitors generally use full range RGB.

Oh I see, thank you for the information.
I will probably stay with my old CRT for now and will think about something modern when I gather some money. Thanks for suggestions again

PS: You sent a link to the component converter, my cable is composite though.

I believe the lag occurs when you use NTSC/PAL analog output in an HD monitor due to de-interlacing. Can't the PAL Wii's use a component cable to use progressive scan?

They can. Problem is simply connecting that will result in washed out colours.

The options are use RGB Scart (Which is full range so correct colours) and then deinterlace it without introducing lag.

Or use component convert to VGA and limited range RGB to full range RGB also without introducing lag.

All options are expensive. Those cheap Wii to VGA cables don't deal with the colours. (Ok on a TV that you can use limited range via the VGA port on).

Getting a half decent component cable is the least of your problems when it comes to cost. Either the official one or those shielded monoprice ones are pretty good. (I have one of each and I cannot tell the difference).
