Oh! I just remembered! The Director of Skyward Sword is the same guy who directed Minish Cap so I imagine he likes Vaati and it would make sense to use him.

For some reason I like Zant more than Ganondorf. So... I'd rather see Zant in SS, than Ganon.

Just for you.

Oh, nice, Oregano. I was still under the impression Aonuma directed the games. Shows how behind the times I am. Shame Nintendo doesn't give their directors more attention, though I guess they like them holed away working on their games while the producers talk to the press. I didn't even realize Nintendo was that involved with Minish Cap, though it makes sense, given how much better it was than the Oracle games. Thought they had just handed it off entirely to Capcom again.

I wouldn't mind having some sort of psychotic nihilistic clown with a high-pitched laugh and a tendency to destroy things.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

Zant was indeed a somewhat refreshing enemy for the console Zelda series. I wouldn't mind seeing something other than Ganon himself as the main big-boss either.

For people saying zant, remember that he is from the twilight, and midna made sure that interation between light and dark isn't possible anymore, as the mirror was shadderd, for real this time (link won't go on a quest too find the 5 million mirror pieces)
BTw, in the TP final cutscene, after you beat ganon, it looks as thogh when they show zant, he turns his head and somehow that kills ganondorf, is this true? (THis has always left me curious)

sup, I will give you advice if you ask.

As long as Zant was alive, Ganondorf was as well. Zant killed himself for unknown reasons, and that ended up killing Ganon

My guess it that it'll be Ganon again. Just a hunch. I mean, heck, they've yet to break any other traditions with this series, why would they break the biggest one of all after Link and Zelda?

It would not be the first time, Mickey. Link's Awakening, Majora's Mask, and Adventure of Link (though he figures in that one) all have broken the tradition, and that's not counting the Four Swords Adventures or the four games Capcom was involved in. I could be off count, but I think Link has fought Ganon in five games (LoZ, LttP, OoT, WW, TP), Vaati in three (FS, FSA, MC). Not a huge difference.

Also, maybe I'm missing something -- and if so, clue me in -- but Ganon does not begin Ocarina as a known entity. People know him as the leader of the Gerudo, not as the supreme lord of all that is evil and not groovy, known as Ganondorf, not yet changing his name to Ganon.

Nintendo has recently made two explicit comments: a timeline exists, and this game comes before Ocarina. That seems to me like they are obviously saying Ganon is not the direct threat this time, unless we're to believe that he nearly conquers Hyrule and then everyone forgets about it. Perhaps (and hopefully) he is at work behind the scenes, indirectly involved, but I would guess a chronologically older power like Vaati or someone new to the series is the immediate threat now.

And personally I don't see Zant coming back in this game. The game is so bright. I can't see the twilight realm being involved in this. He wasn't a bad villain by any means, but nothing special either, and I don't want to be reminded of Twilight Princess when I'm playing this.

I think this is the first console one with a director other than Miyamoto and Aonuma, I'm not completely sure about that though. I don't think the games were made by Capcom proper, they were made by Flagship which was Capcom owned but Nintendo(and Sega I think) funded and the games were done under Nintendo's guidance... after Flagship was folded into Capcom a bunch of people left and joined Nintendo EAD, which is why they're now working on Skyward Sword. I'll have to find the guys name...

Just looked it up: Hidemaro Fujibayashi. This could be good. I didn't care for the Oracle games, but I enjoyed Minish Cap more than any of Aonuma's directorial games. Fujibayashi also was assitant director of Phantom Hourglass, which (along with its sequel) was directed by Daiki Iwamoto who hasn't directed anything else before or after.

this excites me. Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks were all brilliant--and they also all had completely unique villains. Maybe not the best villains, but unique ones nonetheless.
