I would hardly call these an epic failure. I think that the Wii versions of RE4 and TP are significantly better than their Gamecube counterparts. And OK, I'll agree that most of the NPC games are pretty pointless, but a couple (Metroid Prime 1 and 2) are going to be amazing and should not be overlooked.

you must be kidding, right?

We already have wii control Twilight Princess (even mentioning this game, I find it near impossible to believe you don't know this) and Resident Evil 4. was there any sort of point to this thread at all?

I use the same username on TVTropes and youtube. look me up!

it's...it's not good...you didn't even spell Twilight Princess correctly....

I'm guessing the joke is aimed at Nintendo rereleasing their Gamecube content and calling it New Play Control, given that both of the above were GC titles as well that debuted on wii. ...And that's it. I just can't see what was supposed to elicit laughter....good...try.....?

For what it's worth, I'm not exactly willing to shell out 30 dollars for games I already own either, but I must say it isn't a bad call given that a lot of gamers missed out on these games originally since only 9 people bought a Gamecube.

No Wii U yet.... Not enough first party wow titles to pull me in yet... And Nintendo's got a ways to go to repair the damage done during the Wii generation.

Hardcore, casual = marketing. The real divide is between arcade and narrative games.

Twilight Princess is the mother of all NPCs. That is why we must destroy it.

In all honesty Nintendo should be praised for following through on their promise and releasing it on Gamecube - they could have easily muscled into over to Wii only and forsaken the GC audience.....

Definitely. I like to joke about it being an NPC title, but I enjoy playing it in either format, and considering the scarcity of Wiis at the time of its release, they would have been isolating a large audience had they not done both versions.

Correct me if I'm mistaken but wasn't the Wii TP released before the GC version? If not simultaneously with it?

Indeed and therefor Wii Twilight Princess is not an NPC.

It isn't an NPC. As I already clarified, it was a joke. Sheesh, messieurs.

not so much... Twilight Princess was developed originally for GC but then was switched to the Wii when Miyamoto felt the new pointing interface would work well with shooting arrows. TP had an original release date of 2005, but that was pushed back so that they could finish developing the Wii version. The only thing keeping TP from being an official NPC game is the fact that it came so late in the GC's lifetime that they were able to push the GC release back.

If you want to get technical, it's the exact same game, same story, same mechanics, just with movements taking the place of button presses and a flipped map layout because they couldn't rework Link himself in time to make him left-handed. If that's not a New Play Control game, then what is?

I wonder how many copies the GC version actually sold? I mean, releasing it a week later is pretty bad as it is, especially when most fans are gonna get the Wii version anyway.
