Topic: I don't want a Wii Balancing Board. Am I missing out?

As the title suggests, I have yet to buy a Wii Balancing Board. I so far have little desire to get one and the cost seems a bit steep for something that's basically a glorified Power Pad. Did I mention I also can't stand rhythm games like Dance Dance Revoultion?

OK if I got one as a gift I would glady accept it, but so far it lacks the "must have" quality to justify the purchase. Even the review for Punch Out said the Balancing Board feature was not that great.

So gamers, convince me to buy one or reassure me that I'm not missing anything.

I'm going to be honest with you, I don't like the Balance Board. And so far, all of the game's that have made use of it have not done so very well. That's my personal opinion. Maybe at some point a developer will figure out a really good way to make use of it, but for the time being I mostly try to ignore it unless I have to use it for a review.

And even looking at it generally makes me want to set it on fire.

Your words are in sync with my gut feeling. Thanks, Corbie!

I think both of us probably aren't the target audience which I'm guessing is women that feel like they should only play video games if it looks like they are working out.

If you don't want WiiFit, then there's really no reason to get it. I do enjoy that program (and plan on getting Wii Fit Plus) and playing Equilibrio is nice. Playing Overturn with it is an interestingly immersive experience as well.

I've played Wii-Fit, Family Snow & Ski, Rabbids, Shaun White, Skate-it and even Tetris, using the Wii-board. I think it's great and if you are a lazy gamer, then Wii-fit could persuade you to get up off ur ass for an hour every day (and enjoy it). I think the new F1 game might support it too, for acceleration and braking, which I can't wait to combine with the Wii-wheel. It is pricey mind so only buy it if the cash is spare. And I'd probably wait till Wii-fit+ now, as we might see a price cut (funny aren't I).

Wii Fit just doesn't excite me the way Wii Sports Resort does. Like everyone else during these hard economic times, my cash flow isn't unlimited.

Yea my balance board has been a pretty big dust collector. I really only liked the ski-jump game.

The balance board is great if you (1) have kids, (2) want or like Wii Fit, (3) get it as a gift. Otherwise don't worry about it too much until a game makes great use of the balance board. My mother in law gave it to my kids with Wii Fit for Christmas and the game got old fast. I tried it with Tetris and it sucked. When I played Skate It with the board, I ended up trading in Skate It caused I didn't like the control and I also had just got my 360 and I needed games for it so.....wait on the board.

I do what I do how I do

I'll have to agree with these guys. The Wii Balance Board, to me, is a gimmick. I don't see any reason to buy one, unless you enjoy the programs that require it. Other games that give you the option are generally better played with a controller for accuracy's sake. I doN't have one, but from what my friend made me try, I wouldn't recommend it. However, that's your call.

Don't let my location fool you. I'm Québécois, not Canadian.
