Personally I thought that MP8 was a pretty fun game with a good amount of content and I can't really see many reasons why people say it's one of the worst Mario Party games. Can someone explain to me why people don't like this game?

I liked this one, but it's not the worst. I think Advance, 5, 9 and 10 are worse than 8. I've not played it in a while but it was just a touch blah and some of the game boards had boring gimmicks. I played that DK one a lot cause it was the most standard gameplay. It was kind of the beginning of the decline. They put out 5, 6 and 7 so quick after one another though, it's like they sped through time to get to the design change and forced it out for the Wii.
I was literally in Gamestop the other day looking and this couple were like "ooh Mario Party 8, that's the last good one before everyone got in the car and it went downhill"

While I like the Mario Parties before 8 better, Mario Party 8 is definitely much better than Mario Party 10.

For me, Mario Party 9 and 10 are the worst (I haven't played 10, but I know it's got the same distasteful concept as 9) and 6 and 7 are the best installments but 8 is acceptable. I enjoy it in spite of it's flaws. I love the unique addition of Hammerbro and Blooper as playable characters.

For me the games are pretty much boring and stale for me. 3 will always be my favorite, along with 5 (I think it was 5).

I think 8 is great. I like older ones better but 8 was the last good one. I kind of liked Island Tour but it's different.

8 was fun. I don't get the hate on Mario Party 10. (I never played 9 but 10 is a lot of fun)

I have not played 8 in a while (and only played it about 2 or 3 times I believe) but I will take it over 10. I played 10 for about 2 hours and have no interest in ever playing it again. 8 on the other hand is a game I would not mind playing again (at least if it's with other people).

I really liked 8. For me it has the best boards. The train that always changes, the city that's a bit like monopoly, the beach that is just a long linear path, the DK stage that is like all the stages from Mario Party 1 - 7. For me the board selection and variety was the best in Mario Party 8 while in other Mario Party games most of the boards felt like there's too much random stuff going on. There were Mario Party games that had a few good boards as well, but it was never such a varied, separated selection as in 8.

MP5 was the first MP game I had ever played in the series on my Gamcube. It was by far my all time favorite one. It got me hooked on MP in general. Granted, I haven't played that game in like 12-13 years since I rented it from Blockbuster, I never owned my own copy so I may not feel the same way playing it again today. I didn't like MP4, it didn't hold my interest for some reason. MP6 & 7 were great, MP8 was OK, I skipped 9, and as far as 10 goes it's actually not that bad imo. Better than what I expected, I mainly play MP10 with my niece and it's a lot more fun that way. I only wished MP10 had dlc for more minigames.

@SuperLuigiTime A lot of people hate MP10 without even playing it, they just see the "cart mechanic" and say it is terrible lol. I like 10 a lot too and skipped 9.

Yeah, Mario Party 8 is one of the best games in the series. Fun boards, fun minigames.

Part 10 is much worse than 9, and I liked Mario Party 9. It's obvious MP10 was a cheap and fast low effort development to pad out the Wii U's lacking library. Instead it just became the Mario Ultra Smash Tennis of the Mario Party games.

@Mahe MP10 is a lot of fun. I don't get the sense that it was a quick development (at least compared to other MP games) and it isn't the worst MP game.

8 isn't bad, but I don't found the minigames and boards as fun as the ones from previous ones. It is better than 10, though. (Which also isn't bad, but feels really rushed compared to the others)

I'm just a person on this site, I guess.

I don't know why people don't like MP8, I think it's great. The game boards and minigames are fun in my opinion. It's definitely better than 9 and 10 where everyone travels in a vehicle and you hardly ever get to play minigames. I don't understand why they did that!

It looks like MP Star Rush will be better though (everyone moves at once but individually rather than in a vehicle).

geez, I haven't played my Wii in a while, but i do have fond memories of MP8. first Wii Mario Party game i owned (I've got a N64 with MP 1 & 2). While MP8 isn't my favorite, it's still better than 9 or 10.

The only ones I've played are Island Tour, MP8, and MP10. Island Tour is utter garbage, but Mario Party 8 is just... meh. I played it with my friend and we were too bored/board (haha) with the game to keep playing. I had gotten it from a friend a few years ago but sold it to get Splatoon; most fun I've had with the game, but I should probably give it a 2nd chance. Mario Party 10 is... decent. I didn't buy it but I rented it for a birthday party and it was actually pretty fun. Better than 8 in my opinion. (BUT SERIOUSLY, STAY AWAY FROM ISLAND TOUR!!!)
