I've been playing Endless Ocean: Blue World and noticed that my remotes last only about 2 hours before they display red on the battery life indicator. That's pretty disappointing, but it's probably because I live in a tropical country with very high humidity. I've been using Duracell heavy duty batteries and I imagine they're supposed to last longer. I've started leaving rumble off just to save battery life, but it's kind of annoying since it's nice to have tactile feedback when pointing at buttons and such.
I also noticed that the Japanese-brand batteries that came packages with the Wii and remotes lasted much longer than the ones I've bought off the shelves. They lasted maybe 8-10 hours before draining completely. I wish I could get batteries like those ones.
So how long does your Wii Remote last before running out? And what kinds of batteries do you use and are they rechargable?
EDIT: Ah, the manual apparently says you should use alkaline batteries for the Wii-motes. I'll have to look in to that.
I use Rayovac Alkaline (the gray/black/blue ones) and I get about 60 hrs in my 360 controller and about 75 in the Wii controller.

2 hours is very wrong. you seem to have figured it out already, though. my rechargables have the worst battery life out of all options and even they get 10 hours easily. standard batteries should be getting 30 hours at least.
I use rechargeable batteries and usually get about 10-20 hours out of them. It depends on the games you play though. If a game doesn't use the pointer, the camera in the wiimote doesn't have to be turned on, which saves a lot of battery power from what I've heard.
Grab some high-end rechargable Duracells. They're quite expensive compared to disposable ones (about £12 for 4), but once they've spent a night charging, they last goddamn forever. And you can recharge 'em again

I'm using the white top rechargeable Duracell batteries. They are rebadged Sanyo Eneloops (the best rechargeable cells), and my batteries usually last around 15 hours or so. I have an extra set for every controller, so I put in the replacements and charge the other ones. This means I never have to wait for cells to charge.
use nyko induction charger. you won't have to remove the batteries or the jackets and you can charge them anytime you're not playing and not worry about it.

So I used some normal alkaline Energizers and they've lasted much longer. I played about 8 hours yesterday (all Endless Ocean 2 lol) and it's still at 4 bars. Thanks guys.
I think I'd only get rechargable batteries for Wii-motes if I can find a charging station for them. I don't want to have to remove them for charging and then put them back in every time.

Heavy Duty batteries are for devices that require very low power over an extended period of time (remotes, clocks, etc.). They wouldn't last long at all in a controller (I'm surprised they even lasted two hours).
Edit: I don't know if Rayovac exists in your area, but those batteries are very cheap and every bit as good as Energizer/Duracell.
