Topic: Having some problems with my Wii

Ok so I wanted to see if there are some answers that I can get to my Wii problems before I contact Nintendo but I am not sure if anyone here has experienced these problems.

Now I havent played my Wii for a few months now but tonight I decide to pop in the Super Mario All Star disc to play some Super Mairo Bros 2. I started off with a new game and right away I noticed that the response to the controls were lagging almost like a second or two behind. For example I would push the A button to jump and maybe a second later Mario would jump on the screen. Well it throw off my timing so bad I died at Birdo at the end of the level. I tried switching out Wiimotes and classic controllers but still the lag issue was there.

So to check if maybe it was me I decide to fire up the Super Mario Bros 2 VC version. Well when I did start it up it was in the middle of game with the home menu displayed when I went to start the game by pressing the home button I would get a black screen nothing more. However once I hit the home button again it would bring up the home menu and show the game paused. Press the home button again a black screen. I tried that with a few more VC games Mario Kart, Punch Out!!, River City Ransom and got the same results.

Has either of these issues happen to anyone else and is there anything I can do that wont involve sending it in?

its probably just an old, or corrupted, wii. Just send it in, IMO

Hmmmm could be but the odd thing is it worked fine a few months ago when I played Skyward Sword. The only thing that changed was the TV that it was hooked up too.

yeah, but things break down over time. maybe when you switched tvs it messed up? and how old is this wii? if its old, this is most likely the problem. check the cables on the wii since you switched tvs, and I wish you the best of luck!

When things get old, they fail, and I'm learning that w/ the living room PC which has the router giving everything including this PC the internet. It's as good a dead minus the internet part right now. Hope you have better luck.

Thanks yeah thats what I am afraid of truthfully I would just pick up another Wii but I have all my VC games on this Wii and I dont want to lose them. Is there any way to transfer titles to a new Wii without sending it in?

I know what you mean. That's what sending it in's for. First call them just to be safe.

Ok well I fixed the VC problem and the lag problem with VC games apparently I just needed to change some options in the options menu. However I noticed that Gamecube games when played on a Wii connected to an HDTV lag as well. Anyone else experience this problem and if so is there anyway to fix it?

I'm sure WaveBoy would know exactly how to answer your question Tasuki. I believe he even created a thread designed for discussing this such subject. I still play my Wii on a standard television. I know, I'm behind the times. But I'm oldschool cool like that. One benefit of playing my Wii on a standard television is, I don't have to worry about HD upscaling. I believe the lag is caused from the HD resolution conversion rates.

Tasuki, where's the, "refresh rate option," located, in your Wii console settings or on your television?
