Yeah, it's okay to take a break. Don't play it for a while, and then, whenever the mood strikes you, play it some more. I wouldn't worry about losing interest in it, though. Even when you get your PS3.
I have a PS3 and a Wii. Sometimes I play the PS3 more, sometimes I play the Wii more, and sometimes their usage is equivalent. I get in the mood to play certain games, as I'm sure many people do. I wouldn't say that you're losing interest with the Wii as much as I would say that maybe you're in the mood for some other type of game that may not be available on the Wii. But again, try taking a break for a little bit and see if that helps.

Like others have said, take a break. It refreshes me when I do. If I ever come back a third time to try and finish Persona 3 on the PS2, I'll probably like it again. It's been months since I've played that already.
Working extra this summer, I've only had time to play Okami, Brawl, and Metroid Prime Trilogy on my Wii so far, (with a little bit of The Conduit...yeah...) and some VC here and there. So, it happens to us all.
The fact that you're branching out and probably getting a PS3 is a good thing. At the very least you can check out the Wii weekly so it won't get dusty through Christmas.

You yourself say the Wii is a great console, but you never play it. The PS3 is a great console also, what makes you think you'll play that either. I would suggest concentrating on school, getting a part time job to pay for games, or bag yourself a lady, after six months of fitting brief Wii sessions around her needs, you will be desperate to play the Wii.
Simply put, real gamers know the Wii doesn't suck so you don't have to prove anything bro. Go do your PS3 thing and your little white box of awesomeness will be waiting for you when your ready! as for me I've gotta get back to Academy of Champions, M.P.T, Okami, Zelda: T.P, Grand Slam Tennis, Wii Sports Resort, Battalion Wars and Shaun White! Ps does anybody else think Ubisoft has become awesome for the Wii lately, their wii engine is really strong!

Sorry to hear you aren't as interested in it as you used to be...but it's just gaming...life goes on. It really sucks you can't buy any games...that's your problem, there are some GREAT games out, you just can't afford them at the moment. Also as somebody suggested, play more with friends or with a girlfriend...I think my favorite times playing the system are with others. My girlfriend and I just beat House of the Dead: Overkill last night, have a few MarioKart races a week, usually always play Wii Sports Resort...so, maybe thats what you need, more people to play with. I am an old-school gamer, so the Virtual Console will always have me loving the Wii.
What I don't get is that you are getting a PS3 and presumably some games with it, are worried about getting bored with the Wii and yet can't afford to buy games for the Wii. Is there some need to have both? If you get a PS3 then enjoy the games you get on that or alternatively don't get the PS3 and spend the money on Wii games......

you just said you enjoy the Wii and think it's a great console; why do you need to prove anything to anyone else? if there's nothing out at the moment for you to play, you can't force the interest if it's not there. i fluctuate regularly between the DS, the Wii, my computer, and IRL stuff like reading, drawing, TV shows, etc... you don't have to be playing the Wii every day in order for it to 'not suck', you just have to be enjoying yourself while you are playing your Wii.

Hmmm. What games do you have? One thing you can do is create a backloggery, put all your games on there, and then work on finishing and/or completing each one.

Replay some of your games. I'm replaying Super Paper Mario and maybe Super Mario Galaxy for my wait til Christmas. I'm also preoccupied with Professor Layton and his puzzles.
@mrmicawber: I read it, and laughed. Then crafted a response, hit return... denied!! I don't know what you did wrong with that one, could have been good. My advice for you was... remove the TV from the bedroom and solve BOTH problems. Also, let her choose the next game, and buy it, even if you think/know it's gonna be s***.
One of the best things about the Wii is, even if you ignore it for a while, the next time you turn it on, it will still love you and want to play games with you. Enjoy
