IGN just posted a video with in-game footage of Gladiator A.D.; link here.Looks to me like the gameplay is pretty slow, unfortunately.

If they allowed free movement it would be perfect

Wow, that somehow looks worse than I expected.
Come on, friends,

i think the conduit will be a success and so will the grinder but gladiator is gonna be a flop.....

Graphics look great, but I thought the gameplay would be more fluid than that.

Hm. That didn't really look all that hot, especially with the jerky gameplay. It kind of makes me think of a bloody Punch-Out!! but with a lot less cool.

Hopefully it's an early build. The combat looks pretty stiff, but the design and the detail looks decent.

Did they run your dog over with a car or something?
Didn't you like Tempest X3 on the Playstation or Ruiner Pinball on the Jag?

Yeah... it's 2009. And it's a 3D fighting game. You're a reviewer or reporter or something so I'm almost positive you can fill in the dots from there.
Hey it's okay, you know IGN? Sure you do.
Matty is the ultimate HVS fanboy and he even suggested they change basically the entire gameplay.
Now I know it's cool to be all "Oh HVS is so great, they're saving us with their awesome games" but it's hard to look at this one and honestly think HVS is going to "reinvent the fighting genre on Wii" like they've told everyone.
Edit: Which what's the point of looking at those two games? They were made by High Voltage a decade ago with people not even there any more, and they still reviewed horribly... If the moral of the story is, they'll still make bad games no matter how much I complain, I got that. lol

Well, I actually liked those games back in the day; it just means I think they're able to make something I'll like. The basic concept of Gladiator doesn't excite me (ditto for any other 3D fighting game), but that doesn't mean everything HVS does is rubbish or this game doesn't have the potential to be good!
I also don't review games or report on anything for a living; if it stops being fun for me I won't do it any more so I don't really have any vested interests other than my own desires. I hope these guys continue to do stuff I'll enjoy.

I don't know why you guys are so adamant about defending this game. That is the worst looking preview for a game I have ever seen, especially given the absurd amount of hype this developer has been given. Even if you do for some reason think this does not look atrocious, you can surely see why someone would not be blown away.
I was expecting much more fluid movement than what looks like very simplistic dodging and hacking. From what I've seen, I'm now expecting a much uglier and boring version of Punch-Out, not a revolutionary 3D fighter.
I can't help but wonder how much they've paid IGN or how many of them slept with Matt.

I just watched the video, and I have to agree, it looks bad. I now have even less reason to buy this game.
At the end of the video, it had: Coming up next: Gladiator A.D. Are you not entertained?
No, I wasn't very entertained, thanks IGN.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

The gameplay looks like a bad version of Punch Out.
I made Kid Tripp! PocketGamer gave it a 9 out of 10! You should totally buy it now!

I don't like the TV show; I don't have the consoles in question, so I don't know!
This game could turn out to be total crap; I'm certainly not keen on 3D fighters (though I do recall enjoying Tobal on the Playstation), but I can give them some slack since it's early days and I'm nice like that.
