Sorry if there's already a topic for this.

So is anyone picking this up? It's getting kind of dissapointing reviews, there's a 7.5/10, 6.4/10, 5/10, and D+. But it still sounds fun. Anyone get it?

Technically, it's only $10 more if you want the new controller so I'm going to pick it up sometime this week or next week if possible.

The deal with the control is sweet, but I don't need the control, I will get the control when skyward sword comes out

I was planning to get this, because in Canada it's only $5 more than just the remote plus, but the reviews are so poor I'm not sure now. I wonder if it's getting reviewed so poorly because it's a retail release or if people would still be so harsh on it had it been a cheap WiiWare game. As long as I can get a few hours of fun out of it, it would be worth it to me.

FlingSmash inclusive Wiimote Plus is 54,99 € here in Europe. A standalone Wiimote Plus is 49,99 € here.
By that logic, FlingSmash as a WiiWare game would cost 500 Wii Points - but it's not a WiiWare game!
It's coming on a retail disc and it can have much better graphics and music and more content thanks to 4000 MB of disc space compared to the limit of 40 MB WiiWare space.
On top of that it has much better controls since it's exclusively made for Wii Motion Plus. (This game can't be played without Wii Motion Plus. In fact this game wouldn't even be feasible without Wii Motion Plus)

I think FlingSmash is a good deal for everyone who wants to play a new unique game with new and better controls. The deal is especially great for people who intend to play The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Wii Sports Resort and other WiiMotionPlus-only games in the future.

It's a shame it's getting such bad reviews. The developers had about 2+ years to work on it. This was my most anticipated game this year next to Donkey Kong Country Returns.

I wonder what went wrong?

Does anyone know if this game is better in Co-Op?

Edit: Bought this game, It's freakin fun!

they probably didn't pay enough popular gaming sites to give good reviews

I will be getting these game with the remote deal, but you know, the money don't grow in the trees and they are much better games coming these holiday.

I'll be getting this. It looks like a good game. I also want the remote.

I'm interested in picking this up but I don't think that I can afford to right now. My money needs to go to Epic Mickey, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn.

I picked this up, and it's not as bad as I was expecting based on the reviews. It even made me chuckle a couple times. Just don't think of it as being much more extensive than a WiiWare title. I haven't played it much yet, but I'd give it like a 6. I think it was worth paying the extra $5 over a plain Wiimote Plus that it is in Canada, but if I were in the US it would be iffy to pay $10 for this game. I think this game would appeal more to kids than hardcore gamers. If you're going for perfection, I think you will get frustrated with the controls, not that it's difficult to control, but it just feels a little haywire at times.

I'm definitely going to pick it up. I think the IGN review is excessively harsh. Check out Josh Thomas' video review at The Bit Block for something that seems a little more balanced.

Got the game yesterday and it's really fun... short, but fun and it only worked out as a fiver so it was definitely worth it. Zip(and Pip) better appear in the next Smash Bros in some form! A trophy where they go bouncing about the screen hitting people would be good enough!

Flingsmash's blackwiimote meant I had to buy a black nunchuck as well, or be forever irritated. But that works out, since I traded in two normal motes and their respective plus dongles, and bought one white mote+. Only ever do two player gaming after all. So very worth it in my eyes to have a black and white set.

And Josh Thomas is awesome, though if he disagrees with someone in the comments... he'll make sure they know that.

Its a fun and charming game but a bit too much of a waggle fest. Wiimotionplus doesn't add too much to the game play othert han. allowing diagonal tatgeting. I think metacritic has it at around 55%. I'd give it anywhere betwen a 6.5 and a 7.5 personally. I'm still glad I bought as I got it on release day fot £36.85 from shopto.net and its accessible gaming. The wiimotionplus mote looks very nice

"They say video games are bad for you? That's what they said about rock n' roll."

It's not a waggle fest at all. you get told off for waggling!

I think people keep getting mixed up and thinking you're directly controlling zip but you're actually like tapping him with an invisible tennis racket.

Actually, that one crab boss I couldn't beat by trying to make specific moves, but when I waggled I beat it first try, lol.

Note: I only played until the second world. This game may get worse or may get better.

I bought this game yesterday, my expectations for the game (especially the controls) was very low after reading the harsh reviews. I put the disk in and began to play. To my surprise.

This game is amazing!!

Please ignore the reviews and give this game a chance! I heard reviewers griping about the control. Let me tell you, I haven't experienced controls this smooth since Wii Sports Resort. After reading the reviews I was ready for horrendous controls. I swung the Wii Remote Plus the first time diagonally and... 1:1 motion. Second time, 1:1 accuracy, third time 1:1 accuracy. By the fifth time I started having so much fun flinging this lil guy around that I forgot all about the controls every minute swing was perfect. To remove all doubt about the so called "bad controls" I invited my 10 year old niece to play. I told her to aim at certain blocks/items and BAM!! she'd nail it. Sometimes the action gets so frantic you miss items and blocks because you have less time to concentrate. Just like playing basketball, the players miss shots because the environment gets so intense.

This game exceeded my expectations ten fold and I just can't seem to wrap my head around these horrible reviews. If I were a reviewer this would be my score:

Sound: 8 It sounds like a Nintendo game from effects to the soundtrack. A cross between Yoshi's Story and Mario Galaxy.

Graphics: 7 Nothing to love, nothing to hate, nothing to talk about.

Gameplay: 8.5 It's just a fun addicting arcade style game. It's easy enough to play but hard to master. Getting an S rank on any stage is near brutal but never feels tedious. You'll find yourself playing a stage 5 or more times saying "Just one more" after every time you miss the S rank.

Controls: 9.5 This is where the game shines. Now I see why Nintendo bundled the Remote Plus with this game. It's so fluid and accurate I forgot all about controls. This is how all Wii games should control from now on.

Depth: 7 It's a little shallow from what I've played. Besides flying through levels you can unlock mini games. This is the kind of game that never gets old while company is over and getting an S rank on all levels may take you about a month to complete.

Presentation: 6.5 There's no voice acting or character squeaks n squeals . The cut scenes are mostly slideshows and seem a little unpolished. There was one part where the cutscene gave you 2 seconds to read a three sentence paragraph. o.0

Overall 8 I would have paid 30 bucks for this game. The Wii doesn't have a ton of co-op games and this one is easy to learn and anyone can enjoy and at 10USD extra believe I will be buying Flingsmash for every black Wii Remote Plus I need.

@vonseux I read the reviews before purchasing the game. And it just boggles me. If anyone has trouble playing this game I feel sorry for them at the dinner table. "Dammit I missed and poked the mashed potatoes!"

I'll admit, I kinda rolled my eyes first time I read your comment, I thought "another false conspiracy". But Wow you really got me thinking now. Maybe this Wii bias is more real than I thought.

The reason why I wrote such an extensive review is because I want my experience I had with the game out there. It's actually really really good.
