Topic: Final day of WiiConnect24 tomorrow (and my small rant on it)

Tomorrow's the final day that WiiConnect24 will be up. I can't take advantage of it since I own a Wii U, but I think it's stupid that they're shutting it down when they should've make it compatible with the Wii U's Wii Mode since the Wii U is supposed to be 100% backwards compatible with the Wii.

Yeah it's going to suck to see half of the Wii's functioning channels go dark.......forever.

Yeah, they should've at least waited until the Wii U started doing better before they closed them off.

I hope there are Wii U versions of Everybody Votes Channel and Check Mii Out Channel.

So do I, I hope they have a general Wii U Mii app with all of those combined. The Wii U doesn't even have a photo channel/app even though that didn't use WiiConnect24.

To be honest, this was inevitable. The Nintendo channel was already on life support before the Wii U was released.

I'm going to miss the Nintendo Channel for the game-play times and the Weather Channel for my live weather in Tiger Woods PGA Tour.

Same here. Plus I actually still use(ed) the News Channel every single day. I watched the first and last Nintendoweek episodes for old times sake yesterday before they pulled the plug. Sniff, sniff. I do think it is a shame the Nintendo pulled the plug only 6 months after the Wii U was released and with its sales still being matched by Wii.

This especially, it makes people think Nintendo's spending their time making the Wii worse instead of making the Wii U better.

WiiConnect24 was a really innovative thing. Can any other console actually do this - get updates offline like that? The 3DS gets them with SpotPass I suppose. The Wii U can also get notifications.

It would really interest me when they finally close down the Wii-Shopping channel. So I can buy the most important games before they do.

i do hope we get an updated Weather Channel for Wii U, i really liked the Wii version.

Maybe when the WiiU actually has a VC worth talking about.

From what I gather, Wii mode is a separate system from the Wii U's OS. Because of this, it is not possible to connect it with the internet 24/7 so the WiiConnect24 is useless with the Wii U.

i remember getting my wii at holidays 2006. next day i woke up and my living room was blue because of the disk-swap lightning and i got a notification from nintendo about an update or something like that.
it was so cool. i loved that blue light !!!
