The reason why Excitebots is not in Europe is simple. It sold horribly in North America.
But that's not necessarily a good reason. Look at Let's Tap! -- sold rubbish in Japan; in order to recoup the costs Sega is selling it cheaper in Europe and North America; don't see why Nintendo wouldn't do the same with Excite Bots and sell it in the EU and Japan (I did hear it was coming to Japan, which is my fall-back position if no EU date ever happens -- but online will probably suck -- no release date to be seen, though).
@25: Thank god for that. I also don't care for Excite Bots - they've basically screwed with a perfectly good formula and made it practically impaletable to all and sundry. Why they didn't just beef up the visuals and allow for DLC tracks and vehicles to go with the online play is beyond me - there really was nothing much wrong with the original other than the fact that it had been rushed out. Hell, they took away one of the nicest features of the original game (personalised music playback) for no good reason.
It would have been better to have released the bots as a special DLC pack to co-incide with Transformers to get more sales, but no: this is Nintendo with their ever twisted and illogical approach to making games 'accessible to all'. It's also the reason why my faith in Nintendo as a developer has all but dried out, and now they're screwing with other people's projects that faith has been replaced by ever-deeper imprints of fingernails embedded in the palms of my hands.
You Europeans also don't have Mario Super Sluggers.
Most people in Europe take no notice of baseball, so that explains that, but EVERYONE loves racing animal robots whilst simultaneously playing poker -- EVERYONE!
