It lacks online interaction and doesn't have a downloadable (does it?) library. It is also a Canadian exclusive. So I am utterly the opposite of excited for it.

I'd genuinely like to buy it, ok, it may not have Gamecube support or internet capabilities, but for me, it's definitely something akin to gaming back in the early days. For me, it's perfect, there are a lot of things to take into consideration, but heck, I still want it, especially if I can go back to my old routes of enjoying gaming without the fuss of an internet connection =].

Hmm, I guess it's for those people who want to keep they're gaming just where it is, on one console, playing local splitscreen games, rather than online.

Of course, let's not forget the kids too, parents might want to keep they're children safe by not allowing them to play online? Hope someone can see my point ^^

I see your point about the old-school gaming experience but, imo, people who want that experience would probably really enjoy having access to the Virtual Console.

RancidVomit86 - I hope Nintendo doesn't end online support for the Wii soon! There are still so many Wiiware and VC games I want to get, and I'm not planning to get a Wii-U in the near future.

So just buy a regular Wii

I'm in Canada, and I'm planning on getting one. Here's how it makes sense for me personally.
a) All of the features it's cutting out are features I don't use. If I want to play virtual console games, I have the actual cartridge of most of them. I never play wii games online, and none of the games I own use a Game Cube controller except Sonic Colours, but I always play with the wi-mote/nunchuk. As for Game Cube support, I always have my game cube set up for recording stuff off of the Game Boy player.
b) I own two wii-motes, but only one nunchuk. Also, neither of those remotes are Wii-remote plus. I've been needing a second nunchuk, and I've been wanting a wii-remote plus for Skyward sword, so this is a good way to get both, which leads me to the third point.
c) It also comes with a whole other system for about 10-20 dollars more, and my brother has been wanting a wii, but hasn't been able to get one for various reasons. The idea is that I'll keep the wii mini, and I'll give him my old Wii for Christmas. I can live without playing the console Skylander games until I get a Wii U some day in the pretty distant future.

In this situation, everyone wins. I know it's a pretty ridiculous situation in order for it to be worth it, but in my case it totally is. Plus I like the idea of a smaller system, and I actually like its design more than the regular Wii. I like a lot of wii games, but I've never been fond of what the system looks like. This looks kind of retro, and I like that. : )

No matter what the game is, try your best to find enjoyment in it for whatever reason. Sometimes a bad game just needs a bit of a shot to the arm with the imagination of a goofball :).

I guess it's nice to see exactly one person planet likes this thing, but I honestly consider it a complete waste of time and money on Nintendo's part even to make it. No wifi makes many major Wii games completely pointless.

I guess Nintendo wanted to go back to the utmost basics too.

I'm guessing the Wii menu itself will be at the least, redesigned, or have some of it's options removed (internet options and such). Anyone else think the same?

SirSmugleaf

Well obviously the internet features will be removed, but I think that the applications just won't be there, and there will be no actual design differences to the menu itself.

I might be wrong, because I actually don't really know. I'm just guessing...

Currently playing: Rhythm Heaven, Minecraft (XBLA), Pokemon B/W 2, Halo 4, The Denpa Men: They Came By Wave, Fallblox, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (GCN)

Will be playing soon: Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Cave Story +, Wii U: NSMBU, Nintendo Land, (And lots more!)

Also, I'm wondering, where on earth does the disc slide in? Or is it like a pop up tray? I can't see any slits around the console from the pictures that are available.

EDIT - Looks like it might be a pop up tray, seeing as where the eject button is placed.

I want this. My big question is this: if its imported to the USA will it play US games or is Canada a different 'region' in regards to Nintendo Consoles and Games?

Don't they usually work with one another? Since their both NTSC-U region correct? So it'll most definitely play US Wii games.

@PekoponTAS You might want to keep your old Wii and gift the mini; otherwise, you're going to lose all your game save files and have to start all your games from scratch — plus, have no means of ever transferring your save files off if you get a Wii U eventually.

@Red_Kinetic Canada and the US use the same discs on the Wii.

Oh man.. Not a good idea, Nintendo! I thought they learned the problem with having similarly named consoles selling at the same time with the DS/Lite/DSi/DSiXL and the 3DS.

I can just imagine the disappointment some kid has on Christmas day when he asks for a Wii U and gets the "Wii Mini" I can see the parents' confusion, though.

Looking for some 3DS and Wii U friends. PM me if interested!

That's not really a concern for me. I've actually been wanting to do another 100% run of Mario Galaxy, but could never encourage myself to do it since I already had a 242 save file. This gives me a reason to actually do it. I also really want the red wii-remote plus and nunchuk. XD I also intend to wait quite a long time before buying a Wii U, so wiping my wii save files gives me something to do during the wait. (plus Paper Mario Sticker Star, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, and other 3DS games)

I'm not entirely convinced the console was worth making, but it fits me so well right now that I'm glad it exists even if it ends up bombing.

I hope they'll call it simply "wii" on the box like they always do. Still, if a kid were to end up getting a mini instead of a U... That would be dumb of their parents to make that choice, they look nothing alike except for the name.

But! But!
It's so cute. :3

Oh, and I have a red Wiimote and Nunchuck from my Mario Wii bundle, and they look fantastic, the red is just such a wonderful shade.

Hahah, I'm just being really silly, in reality @WhiteKnight stole my thoughts.

If the Wii Mini is region free it's worth picking it up.
