Lol, it's launching already on sale for $90 in the Shoppers Drug Mart flyer next week. At least it doesn't cost much more than the cost of an official Wiimote and nunchuk.

And I thought the iPad Mini was stupid.

At least the iPad mini didn't rip out a ton of the functionality. Things just got awkward for Nintendo fans who thought there was no reason for the iPad mini to exist since it was "just a smaller iPad/bigger iPod touch."

And it wouldn't be so bad if it weren't the 6th or 7th iPad version released

Let me see, its doesn't go online and it doesn't play movies.
Well, great job Nintendo, you just made a Gamecube 2.0, a old PS2 would be a better deal.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

4th or 5th, actually, since it and the newest bigger iPad were announced on the same day. That and there was a reason for it to exist, unlike the Wii mini (all IMO of course--can anyone actually see a reason to get this over the regular Wii?).

If I'm not mistaken, I remember the Game Boy Micro was released after the Nintendo DS. So this doesn't surprise me. This is pretty much for the casual crowd who is only interested in Wii Sports and the like. Why those people don't yet have a Wii, I don't know. Still, if Nintendo manages to squeeze a little more money out of the Wii, good for them.

Canada is like very small in terms of actual land being used... Isn't there like 80 percent of Canada taken up by Ice in the northern half? I never hear about those areas... Just Toronto and Vancover and all of the other places.

Hopefully they will add Online for the shop channel in the NA version, if it even comes. I just want that red remote though

If that happened I would know that Nintendo actually really hates Canada.

I said NA, meaning like a system update for canada via Disk and built in elsewhere.

eh might get it later down the road despite having the gamecube wii and wiiu merely for collectors sake and it could be a cool idea of retro gaming collection 20 years later since this version not having online would remind me of the older consoles in a way

there will be some super sale not by nintendo next year i bet so i'll snatch one up by then lol

So, did anyone actually sit down and think about why Nintendo might do this before criticising them for it?

This is quite clearly there for the families that would like to buy a console for Christmas, but don't have the money for a Wii U (believe it or not, if you're a middle income family with kids, a Wii U is f'ing expensive). At $99 it's the perfect family gift to themselves, since they can play Wii Sports or any of the other social games quite cheaply now thanks to the low cost of Wii games.

And as a product for that market, it doesn't need Internet. The audience for this console couldn't care less about WiiWare or playing Call of Duty online. It's a family entertainment device.

Whether it will be successful or not I don't know, but then I don't have access to Nintendo's market data.

It did only take me one minute to figure out what market this product is targeting though. It's quite obvious :-/
