The Nintendo Power segment rocks! I love the explanative history behind the villains, and the Jungle Book level did indeed look colorful and puzzle-filled. Spector is a genius when it comes to creating games.

Yes a really amazing looking game, I hope it to be so good or better as it looks.

Jeez, between this, Goldeneye, Donkey Kong and Kirby (and Professor Layton. And Super Scribblenauts. Yeesh!) I'm not sure if I'll be able to purchase this one. But a rent? Fo sho.

I am hoping this reduction qualifies for their Pre-order Price Guarantee!
(I have also just contacted them about it)

Back on June 21st when I pre-ordered it was $46.99
I applied my $20 Mario Galaxy 2 credit and a $25 gift card so had a total of $1.99
With the new pricing I will get it for FREE and a penny back

Yes, I'll consider buying this issue as it seems to be quite good from the statements that you gentlemen are making. The last issue was a must own for me as it was all about the Nintendo 3DS.

Amazon.com has upped the price of Epic Mickey today to $49.99 but has added a future video game credit of $10
It says the Promotion is valid on all existing orders. Limit one per household.
Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time.

I did get it for the lower price of $44.99 with their Pre-order Price Guarantee! (minus my promo codes for a grand total of $-0.01)

It is a very good issue. Especially that Pulse letter about Waluigi. A brilliant piece of writing right there.

Just got the issue of Nintendo Power today and read the article (well most of it. I will read the feature about the villians soon). It was a VERY good article. And the pictures: wow! I'm so excited about this game. Most likely I'll only be able to rent it when it comes out, but I can't wait. IF its as great as it looks, I'll def. be buying it sooner or later. I hope its an awesome game. Right now its looking pretty great.

NintyFan, I read the villians section and it was great! The game is sounding wonderful. Btw, about my Warioware D.I.Y code, I no longer have Warioware D.I.Y. Sorry. I removed my code from the bottom of post.

As an aside from all the Epic Mickey talk (but related), I've been watching Warren Spector's PAX 2010 Keynote speech. Its a very long video (53:25), but man, this guy is smart, funny, and cool imo. I have a VERY hard time believing that Epic Mickey won't be great. Here's a link to the video in case anybody else wants to watch it: http://pax.gamespot.com/video/6275271/?tag=top_stories%3Btitl...

The more I see & hear of Epic Mickey, the more I want to play it. I think it's going to be one of the best Wii games this year; if not the best. And thats saying a lot when you have Goldeneye, a new Donkey Kong, and a new Kirby coming out too!

@DF2506 Thanks for the link! I've found snippets of his speech online, but I couldn't locate the entire thing, much less in video form.

I personally think Epic Mickey is poised to be one of the best third-party games of the year (as to not sound ignorant), the best third-party Wii retail game of the year, and possibly the best third-party Wii retail game ever. I doubt it can replace any of my top three games of 2010, and, coincidentally, ever: BIT.TRIP RUNNER, Cave Story, or Super Mario Galaxy 2, but I'd love for Warren Spector and the good folks over at Junction Point to try to prove me wrong.

No problem. Its quite a good speech. Really enjoyed it and it makes me think even more that Epic Mickey will be awesome.

You know, I like Cave Story and Super Mario Galaxy 2 (never played Bit.Trip.Runner, so I can't comment there), but I wouldn't put either one up for top three of 2010. I'm not really sure what I'd put up on top yet. To me, the best of the best games have not come out yet. Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby, Epic Mickey, & Goldeneye look like they are going to beat out both Cave Story and Super Mario Galaxy 2 (as an aside: as much as I like SMG2, I think I had more fun with New Super Mario Bros. for Wii).

Anyway, saw another video at Gamespot for Epic Mickey, a hands-on demo (its here): http://pax.gamespot.com/video/6275248/?tag=top_stories%3Btitl... . VERY cool. Especially the Mickey Beanstalk level.

I totally understand. Super Mario Galaxy 2 was simply not very novel to some anymore and just another fun entry in the series, but I think enough reviewers gave it 10's and such that I don't feel silly picking it as one of my top games, and even if I did, I'm sure I'd still proclaim its awesomeness.

Cave Story is slightly better than SMG2 for me, and while many will say it's just a great game, there's beauty and nuances to it that I've never seen matched by any other game before. Consider Super Metroid, for instance. Many would say it's one of the greatest games of all time. To me it's just a very good, maybe great game. Cave Story on the other hand, while heavily inspired by it, surpasses it easily in more areas than I care to count. You may not agree obviously, but that's how I see Cave Story.

And here's the other account on which our opinions differ (which I'm completely okay with): the rest of this year's games. Aside from Epic Mickey (duh!), on the whole this year's tail end is looking slightly boring and uninspired. DKC Returns looks to not be quite as good as the amazing NSMB Wii before it (which imo is not as good as Galaxy 2 but better than Galaxy) and too similar to stand on its own, Kirbs has possibly the most wonderful art style known to mankind but so far the gameplay doesn't look up to snuff, and GoldenEye looks like a pale imitation of the orginal, to put it harshly. There's a certain charm to 007 64's graphics, but here it's just How Not to Take Advantage of the Wii's Limited Graphic Capabilities 101. Forgive me for being so blunt, but as far as I'm concerned, aside from (possibly) Epic Mickey, Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light, Super Scribblenauts, and of course the dazzling BIT.TRIP FATE, well, this year is already in the bag. As StarBoy would say, to each his own.

So I haven't read the actual article in NP, but GoNintendo posted a lot of the information online, practically the only thing they didn't have were the screenshots. Anyway, like pretty much everyone who read the article the game sounds insanely awesome now and I just went from "This game sounds pretty good" to "OH MY GOD THAT SOUNDS AWESOME!!!!!" To those who didn't read the actual article, PLEASE read this:

SuperMarioFan96, that article is OK, but the Nintendo Power article is much better. The pictures in it look awesome!
pogocoop, ya, I really want it too. Not sure if I'll be able to get it or not. Gotta at least rent it!
NintyFan, I'm hoping that the Film reels are the actual cartoons that those 2D levels are based on! Wouldn't that be so cool?! Though, I think its more likely that the film reels are just collectables you get that allow you to play the 2D levels whenever you want (maybe on the main menu?). Though, it would be great if it was the actual cartoons. Oh and far as the pins go, in a recent video, Spector said the Pins were pretty much just for bragging rights. Sounded like Epic Mickey's verison of achivements/trophies. Still, very neat.

Anyway, I hear that the Tokyo Game Show is next week! We should get some more Epic Mickey footage (maybe news?) then. Here's hoping for a release date (Nintendo Life & Best Buy are saying November, but thats not official yet as far as I know).
