Topic: Donkey Kong Country Returns

I'm on world 3, already had a game over, It's really hard, SUNSET SHORE was so beautiful!!!!! waiting for thanksgiving break to beat it

I'm almost done with world 3 now. Level 2-K, I can't remember its name, was crazy intense. It really tested your speed and reflexes.

Getting 100% for this game is certainly going to take effort, especially for all those puzzle pieces.

I'm so glad I bought the guide for this.

Suffice it to say that this is a very good game; better than Metroid Prime at any rate.

I am so loving this gem, I'm on the beach levels now and it's really starting to ramp up the difficultly...just beat that damn octopus level.

I've said it once and I'll say it again: HARDEST. GAME. EVER!
But my god is it fun!
My enjoyment with the game spiked about ten notches once I started using the sideways remote scheme--those Wiimote and Nunchuck controls are absurdly complicated!

EDIT: And crabs are officially the most irritating enemy ever.

I just finished world 2 and all I can say is... THIS GAME IS AWESOME! I like it far more than I did the original, and I LOVED that game back when it came out. I was able to get KONG on all stages so far, but I was only able to get all the puzzle pieces in around 1/4 of the levels. They are really well hidden sometimes, and other times very hard to achieve. I will 100% this game, no matter how difficult it becomes!

i've changed my mind about not wanting another metroid prime, retro just keep getting better and better. i cut it off just before the end of world 1, but i've already seen an awful lot from that one sitting. definitely better than nsmbw, even though it borrows a lot of the same ideas (the world map especially).

It's basically the same music as DKC, like almost all of it, which is good and bad.

I'm in the ruins right now, that Tidal Terror level was amaaaaazing.

Tidal Terror was indeed amazing.

The game was good up to that point, but it needed a great original level to bring it to the next level so to speak. I was looking for something fresh and new and that level delivered, plus it was hard as hell to get all the bananas, coins, etc...

How many worlds is there, and levels per world.

six, seven? about the same as any other retro sidescroller.

About 70 levels in total.

How are the extra lives like in this game? I mean, New Super Mario Bros. Wii was great and would've been hard if it weren't for the lives skyrocketing and all that. xD
Just hoping this isn't like that.

@Bell: I currently have like 60 lives, but that's only because I took the time to run through each of World 1's levels until I collected every puzzle piece, which took me at least 5 tries per level (more on the tougher ones, like Platform Panic). As you can imagine, you rack up a lot of bananas while playing and replaying levels several times.

The closest I've been to a game over was when my lives were whittled down from about 30 to 12 while trying to beat Platform Peril, but that's it. The game doesn't hand you lives on a silver platter, though, especially if you're just playing through each level on your way to the next...

Ah, well whatever...I'm not able to wait till Christmas, I HAD to buy this game today. xD

Has anyone that has the game here unlocked the Golden Temple yet?

Plus, even with all the lives, the game is still VERY hard. I've had the super guide pop up twice now, and I never even saw it once in NSMBW.

Yeah, was expecting that, from what I've played so far, collecting all the puzzles and letters in each level is gonna be a nightmare. lol

Good to see Mr.Game & Watch still has a Job at Nintendo......unlike a certain Blue Bounty Hunter.
