Was your Mario Sunshine has Same Region with your Wii ?
Have you checked the disc surface ? (Assumed if there was a scratch or something wrong with the disc surface)

My Top 5 games :

2. The Sims series (9 / 10)

It can help if you clean the disc, even if it doesn't look that dirty or scratched.

Gamecube games have a reputation of being pretty hardy, but in my experience that isn't quite true.

A while ago I bought a used copy of paper mario from a local store. The disc was in perfect condition, but on two different consoles it would give me an error every time the opening cutscene finished. I went back and exchanged it for a different copy of the same game, and it worked perfectly.

I also had a copy of Metroid prime that I played for a while with no issues, but then I stopped playing it for a few months. When I started playing it again, it would give me errors at random points despite working fine only a few months ago. If I clean the disc, it starts being more reliable for a while, but then it starts doing it again eventually.

@ReaderRagfish Oh man, I once had a copy of Eternal Darkness that did the same thing as your MPrime. Read errors are annoying, but we all know how that must feel on ED... I would constantly stare at the error to see if it was a sanity effect or not.

Just don't boil the disc.

@HobbitGamer I can't imagine a worse game to have that happen to. Disc read errors are never fun, but it's especially bad when it's the kind of game that would give a fake error message just to mess with you.

Dumb question, but you might want to see what generation your wii is. Not all of them can play gamecube games. Have you played any other gamecube games on this system? If you have, it could also be a dirty disc drive. You might need to track down a wii lens cleaning kit. They can be pretty difficult to find these days. I would think a regular disc drive cleaner like this would work just as well, but as I have never tried it I can't say for certain.

@Ecto-1 He said that other games work fine on it and the disc doesn't work on other consoles either.

Woops, sorry. I mis-read the original post. I thought he said he tried playing Sunshine on another console.

I have a game scratched up and it works on both concles but sunshine isnt working

So to clarify, Sunshine isn't scratched? If it isn't, have you tried wiping the disc with a glasses cleaning cloth or something? Don't wipe in a circular motion, wipe from the middle to the edge all around it.
