Heh, if you'd really like, I'll move it to a new thread. I wasn't sure if that was on topic enough, myself. My main concern is with difficulty, like you, and we were already talking mainly about that game, so I decided to stick with this one. I am not known for my ability to stay on topic though, as you know.

Since this has turned into the Fire Emblem thread, does anyone have some good strategy RPG recommendations, preferably games that aren't too hard?

So far I've played and completed only two such games, Tactics Ogre (GBA) and Path of Radiance. Along with Final Fantasy Tactics, these make up my three favorite games in the genre.

I have the first two Shining Force games on VC. I thought the first one was dull, but the second one ruled. Too bad I got stuck on it later on.

I have a backwards compatible PS3 and a Wii, and while I don't have any handhelds, I plan to get a DSi or PSP Go by the end of the year and can always borrow one in the mean time.

I've been thinking of getting La Pucelle (PS2). I've read only good things. Disgaea looks amazing, but everyone says it's too hard. Like Kknight, I'm concerned with the difficulty curve. I'm not the best at this type of game, but I still enjoy a lot. There are so many tactics games across the PS2, PSP, and DS that it's hard to know where to start.

Disgaea isn't to hard! It can be as easy as you want it to be, you can make enemies stronger or weaker. Disgaea 1 has the better story, but Disgaea 2 is the better game. And I don't have a PS3 so I can't comment on 3, but I'm sure it's amazing...There is also a NIS game coming out on the Wii soon, I forgot it's name though.

Recently I got Yggdra Union for the PSP (also on GBA) and it's pretty great, and not to hard (yet...). It's kinda like FE in some ways, but different in a LOT more ways. There are cards, and each unit has multiple units with it, and you can chain the units to team up on enemies.

Fine, you win. I'll see if I can find Disgaea 2 or 3 cheap. NL said the DS game is hard though, so I'm going to blame you if you're wrong.

Yggdra Union sounds closer to what I'm looking for though, so I'm definitely going to look into that. Thanks.

And yea, I heard about Phantom Brave, the Wii game you're thinking of. Sean mentioned it in another thread. Looks good. I'll be getting it as soon as it comes out.

Ouch, that's worse than a too-steep curve to me.

Try final fantasy tactics a2 first, to me its more similar to fire emblem handhelds in gameplay style (The handheld FE i will never stop playing) trust me a2 is very similar and very very fun, disgaea is not as good.

Is A2 similar to A1? I didn't like the style of A1 as noted earlier. Normally I am quite willing to ignore theme, graphics, etc... anything superficial. But in a long game like an RPG, it matters more to me, and Disgaea's style is much more appealing from what I've seen.

Oh, and Odn, is that one of the Mystery Dungeon games? I'd heard those were good. Of course, that and some of the other spin-offs are really just pre-existing games rethemed to be Pokemon. Snap was the only original spin-off I liked, and that was only fun for a short time and probably only for kids. I doubt I'd enjoy it the same.

Haha, it worked.

By the way, I picked up Disgaea 3 used for $35 earlier. Not bad, though it's the first time I paid more than $10 for a video game since... hmm... I can't even remember. Probably in about a year.

I do hope that Phantom Brave appears over here; otherwise I'll try to get ahold of Path of Radiance someday. Maybe Gamestatation will get a copy. I should check in there more often.

Oh! I have another one: Jeanne D'arc(PSP). It's a Level 5 game so, as usual, it's all around perfect but never breaks new ground. It has a pretty good difficulty, and you can go back and level up whenever you want.

Most of the strategy comes from your special units that can transform. They each are different, but they all have this thing where if you kill someone, they get another turn. So if you set it up right, you can wipe out whole armies in one turn.

I've heard about that game. It'd be one of the first games I'd buy if I got a PSP.
