People don't...like...Brawl? Paradox! But seriously, I'd say you have two good options. >_>
1) Family Option: Wii Sports Resort. Everyone can ease into the multiplayer and have lots of fun, and hey, free WiiMotionPlus in case you don't have one yet. w00t!
2) Selfish, single player ORGASMIC Option: Metroid Prime Trilogy. If you by chance have never played Metroid Prime 1, 2, or 3, then by all means buy this collection. If you've already played and still own them AND are a Metroid WHORE, like me, STILL BUY IT! Simply awesome games.
SECRET THIRD OPTION! :3
3) If you get Wii Sports Resort or another game instead, squeeze out a little more money by the end of the summer and still buy Metroid Prime Trilogy!!!

Melee is better than Brawl, all's Brawl has to really recommned it is awesome enemy design in the Subspoace Emissary, too bad the rest of Subsapce is pretty generic and the cinema is horrible,
IGN: The holiday Wii lineup looks thin for the hardcore crowd. We see this. Gamers see this. What, if anything, is Nintendo planning to address it?
Oh good, I am neither a gamer or hardcore. Saves me from having to be IGNorant. Right, Down, A, Down, Right, Up
@mrmicawber: I did enjoy Melee a hella lot more than Brawl. I did like the cinema in Brawl, though.
I played de Blob. It was OK, but not something I'd want to chug down $40 on.
I did rent Bash Party. I like the first one more. It has more personality and the storylines were funny.
Little King's Story isn't my cuppa tea.
I think I'll have to wait on Prime Trilogy. Get it around Christmas, probably.
So, I guess it's still Mario Kart vs. Sports Resort. I'm worried that Sports Resort's lasting appeal will be low. On the other hand, if you consider it a $30 party game, I'd have another MotionPlus unit to play local multiplayer GSTennis. Still, Mario Kart is really fun, but again, lasting appeal is what's holding me back. (That and the blue shell)
I suppose I can wait seventeen more days for the reviews, but... that's seventeen more days! Argoyles!!!

$25 party game, actually, and that's exactly the way to think of it. It seems almost pointless to have only one Motion+, and it's better to get it with Resort than get it separate and later want Resort but not want to pay for the unnecessary extra Motion+.
Sure, some of the games look very dull, but we're talking a lot more games than the original Sports, plus each has multiple modes of play. I don't see lasting appeal being an issue.
Mario Kart Wii has no lasting appeal for me. It was very fun for a short while, but you can only put up with the barrage of blue shells and lightning clouds for so long before it's more frustrating than fun. Of course, you can turn them off in local play, but if you play online, there's nothing you can do about it, unfortunately. Still, if you're just playing offline, you're better off with MK64 or waiting for the original on VC.
I haven't bought Motion+ yet, but I'll certainly not buy it there now that you've told me otherwise, thanks. I need to get one before Resort comes out so I can do multi-player.
If you bought MotionPlus there you were robbed $5.
i have noticed that about GameStop... everything there, if it's available at bigger stores like Target or Wal-Mart, is always a couple bucks more at least, and sometimes even Amazon has some sweet deals on stuff when free shipping is involved. ever since i figured that out, i've been making a point to shop around before actually putting my money down on a new game/accessory.
BEST THREAD EVER future of NL >:3

Boy, I tell ya, I am surprised people think Wii Sports 2 will not have lasting value. That is arcade game design, folks. It BEGS for replayability Don't you still play Wii Sports 1 from time to time? I still do, Golf and Bowling at least...
Golf Bowling and table tennis look real good, archery and sword fighting look real good, flying should be fun, wjetski looks good and has free roam, waveboard skydiving - heck if people are not excited about this game, I am surprised they are wii owners!
Well, obviously they want to promote local multiplayer with the wii sports series. I think we have to respet that artisitc decision. I sure would have loved to handed it to y'all in golf though ; )
Promoting one iteration of multiplayer at the cost of another is far from artful though. Sports Resort + Online + Wii Speak, all homegrown, first-party tech = bringing people together, virtual family reunions, incremental sales opportunity for Wii Speak, increased exposure for Wii online ability and by extension, increased Wii Shop Channel user and sales, and a Tripple Crown tech demonstration: MPlus + Voice + Online in one package. Epic wasted opportunity, sorry.
How do you guys think wii sports resort will be any good...why are you going out to cop it? xD personally, i think itll be disappointment, but ill wait to hear from u guys. Also, if they had brought in a new wii sports boxing (im desperate for a fight night equal on wii...punch out doesnt cut it) maybe it wud actually be gud
Rule #1493 of the internets. If someone uses the word "gud" or "koo" then their opinion doesn't matter. I should tell moot that one...
Ok forget the smart alec stuff n answer the question of why Wii sports resort will actually be worth buying. I don't see how there can possibly be interest in this game xD explain?
