Topic: Couple of EU release questions

Hey all, just thought I'd see if any of you wonderful people had info/thoughts on a couple of (somewhat obscure) games I'm looking forward to on the Wii over here in PAL-Land. Samurai Shodown Anthology and Arc Rise Fantasia.

Samurai Shodown Anthology should be a proper little bargain when it's released for £20 or so. 6 games in 1 is nothing to sneeze at. I think it's already out in the US but when I tried to find it over here the only results I get are pre-orders for a release on the 1st of December this year? Wikipedia (MUST BE TRUE) says it came out on March 27th, figure that one out...

Arc Rise Fantasia is published by Marvelous, they've announced a US date, but with the rumours flying round that Rising Star were gonna be pulled I'm worried it'll never be released over here. Any more info on that? What're your thoughts on both games?

Also welcome are opinions on Tatsunoko vs Capcom, another 2D fighter that has braved Licensing Hell to get a release in the west, as an Anime fan I'm snapping it up immediately, it looks pretty damn good.

Now Playing: LoZ:OoT (GC), World of Goo, Star Parodier, Little King's Story
Wanting: Metal Slug Anthology, Samurai Shodown Anthology, The Conduit, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Klonoa
Anticipating: No More Heroes 2, Tales of Symphonia 2

GAME has Samurai Shodown Anthology and it's been out since March.

I thought Rising Star were doing Arc Rise here, but it's not on the website, so I'm not sure. I certainly hope we're going to see it, but it might slip into next year if Muramasa is coming sooner in its stead.

I've heard that Rising Star are doing Arc Rise Fantasia as well, along with Rune Factory Frontier at some point this year or perhaps early next, but I'm guessing that there's not much info concerning them at the moment because they don't really have any solid release dates for them. I'm really looking forward to ARF (haha, that's an amazing abbreviation!) so fingers crossed it does hit European shores. Looking forward to Tatsunoko vs. Capcom too, particularly because of the control scheme; I love Guilty Gear XX Accent Core but I'm appalling at it because it's just so complex! With any luck TvsC will be easier to get to grips with!

That on the shelves or the website? Because I've seen it on the web with a 'temp unavailable' sign plastered next to it. Can't find it on any of the major chain's shelves (Game, Gamestation, HMV etc) and can't find it 2nd hand yet either. The only copy on UK Ebay is a US one shipped from Hong Kong! Guess it's been delayed for some reason...

GAME have it down as released on March 29th 2009 whereas ShopTo.net has it down for December 1st 2009. I'm willing to bet it isn't available yet - Ignition usually like to take a good length of time to localise and release titles.

I started a topic on here about Samurai Shodown, King of Fighters and the SNK arcade collections a while ago. Someone pointed out Game had them and so I placed an order - after weeks of waiting and them not showing up, I decided to contact Game who told me they do not stock those titles. They didn't say they hadn't been released, though, but I can't find the first two games anywhere. I've managed to track down the SNK arcade collection, though (on HMV's site).

Perhaps someone could e-mail Ignition and see if they get an answer?

Weird. I actually have contact with a PR person there who sent me copies of KoF and SNK to review on my blog; I figured he just decided not to float me a review copy of Samurai Shodown. I'll drop him a line to find out.

If you could also find out if there's any way to buy a copy, at least of the KoF collection, from anywhere at all. I'm so desperate to get hold if it I'd give away my Wii (I know that means I can't play it but at least I'd HAVE it!).

Sean_Aaron

Well, the KoF collection must be out because I had a pre-release copy of it to review back in March-April and I'm fairly certain I've seen it in shops.

As soon as I get a response I'll let you know!

Yeah I've been trying to find a copy as well, but noone seems to have it!

Fuzzy, Backloggery.

Wow, you're right. Not even an entry on amazon.co.uk. I've mailed him about that as well -- he doesn't actually work for Ignition, so it might be awhile before I hear anything back. They did something similar with SNK Arcade Classics where the official release was this March, but it apparently had a limited print run the previous November and you could find copies in Gamestation -- maybe that's happened here as well?

Okay, without going into any details I can say that there's been some distribution hiccups, but these games will be hitting the shops in a few week's time in the UK.

A few weeks? You're certain? If you're right that's great news. I'm just craving being able to play KoF 95 again (and the rest too of course). Was kind of losing all hope of ever getting it so, if you're not right, I'll probably cry (a bit).

Outrunner

Awesome! I'll probably get the KoF one.

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." Matt. 1:21.

Dark_Machine

If that's the case Sean, I'll be grabbing both. Any news on price? I assume it'll be around £20 based on the price of other compilation discs.

I'm pretty sure everything else is the same and I was indeed told a few weeks. If you're really impatient I understand you may be able to get them from amazon.de or similar where they've already been released.
